IS MY MONOTUB READY TO START FRUITING STAGES?
    #22292795 - 09/26/15 10:43 AM (8 years, 4 months ago)

I used Damions 50/50 Coir tek and it has been colonizing for about 9 days, should I begin fruiting stages now or let it colonize more? And what are the exact fruiting steps after colonozation?

Does the term "100% colonization" mean anything to you?

STEP 14

After the 10 days you need to check on the tub if it is 100% colonized then you need to put it into fruiting.  I do this by taking off the duct tape and stuffing the holes with polyfill, then introduce light and FAE.

Damion doesn't have a 50/50 coir tek.  Damion5050 has a coir tek.

Just fruit at 70-75F.

Hope you didn't open the lid for that pic. You want as much c02 to stay inside as possible for colonization/pinset. Looks like you have about a week until you'll be fruiting it

Never heard it recommend. Not saying it will cause disaster but it's far from advised to do so

It's not that far from advised.  I advise to do it if you need to take a picture.  I'm sure the members I respect most here also will say it doesn't matter to open it for 5-10 seconds.  The co2 concentration levels out again after just a few minutes, assuming that opening it is even enough to vent out all the co2 in the first place.

Still, OP posting a new thread to ask questions about a tek that answered his question in the first post of the tek he said he was using... and including his birthyear in his username, all stack up pretty badly so who knows how long he had it open.

far from true, co2 levels like stated would be right back in a couple minutes tops

lol if you ask really dumb questions you shouldnt get offended when people give you shit for it...beggars cant be choosers, you arent really in a position to get lippy with experienced growers after asking a question like that...ESPECIALLY when several offered legit advice. 100% of bulk teks say to wait at least till 100% colonization, usually with 3-7 days consolidation time afterward, and you take pics at what looks like 25% colonization asking if its time yet?

also i personally never take my tub covers off durring colonization, its a good way to let trich spores in, and ive always felt that the more co2 and less fae the better, because it will make for better pinsets, free air exchange is a main fruiting trigger, and getting as much co2 as possible and as little fae as possible durring colonization makes it that much more apparent to the mycelium that its time to fruit when you introduce fae and other fruiting triggers, like...hmmm...100% COLONIZATION!!!

 only thing I'm like wtf at is that he thinks more co2 during colonization will make better pinsets. If that were the case, why isn't everything air tight? I think what he means to say is 10000-20000 ppm of co2 during colonization is optimal. Opening the lid will drop that to not even under 5000 ppm, and it will shoot back up to 10-20000 in about 5 minutes after you close the lid

Open the lid to take some pics or to take a good look to make sure there's no beginnings of trich. It won't be bad, and advising not to so 2001

No thanks.  I really don't think I'm gonna get banned.  Gotta love wishful thinking though.  If everything I posted were negative I probably would be banned but you're just generalizing.  My first two posts were actually helpful, as offended as OP might have been.
