I've seen pictures of it, it looks like it does pretty well
Only thing Im not sure is how to fruit them
I use straw in most of my tubs, its easy enough to pasturize , I mix it in with coir/verm. I get great results with it as an additive

You need a green house to do it but I think you could get some great harvests from straw logs...
I've always thought it would be interesting to see what kind of weights you could pull off say a 10x10' room filled with logs vs a same sized room filled with coir tubs
There are some shots of RR fruiting from straw bales in his mushroom videos... not sure if he has any posts about it but I'm sure a quick search through his posts would be enlightening.

Ive seen some photos of HUGE cubes growing off straw logs before, yea man I think if you have the means to fruit them it would be pretty awesome.
I do think on average my tubs w straw do better than my tubs w out it

Nice that's what I like to hear:) Now I have a secondary question , I was thinking of using vac sealer bags like split the roll in half and have a few 5ft bags ,, now if I put a roll of plastic fence inside around the perimiter and then packed it would I be able to remove the bag if my entire room is 85-95% rh ? Or would it dehydrate to quickly ,, I'm planning to hang vertically and I think the fence would make kind of a salami out of the log holding the weight and then I wouldn't have to worry about them growing under the bag either .. Just a brain fart , any thoughts?

Ahhh yea thats right! I remember seeing that. You can roll that sucker up in plastic drop cloth to fruit!
Straw is a trich magnet though, so make sure your spawn is suuuuper clean and pasturize well.
Dude please keep us in the loop if you do follow through on one of these!
Anyone know what spawn to straw ratio to use? And how to layer it up? I have about 20 5 quart spawn bags colonizing right now for tubs but this might just inspire me to put a couple to all straw

I've seen a few different cube logs of others that looked alright.
I saw this one on fb once and saved it. I'm gonna do a couple small ones eventually.

Yet they ain't terrible either. I wonder how they would be with a coir casing in a SGFC.

I was thinking of doing a small rectangle basket placed inside of a 27qt. Mini mono. Any drawbacks to that idea?

For a while I was adding more and more straw into my CVG. u ntill it was mostly straw.
I chop up the straw into 1-3inch bits, soak it in some water w a little dish soap overnight and drain it out, put it in a bucket and add 175 degree water, lid... after an hour it usually finishes at 145-150 F.
I line my tub, mix in my spawn and add a layer of coir/verm.
Usually I mix the straw into some coir, maybe 30% coir/verm and the layer on top
