Hello everyone
I've recently started to build a grow system and was considering documenting it for anyone that would like advice on their grow or for those that would like to see alternative grow techniques. I haven't posted pictures yet (obviously) but I will I'm using a 2'x2'x3' mylar tent in conjunction with a 300w Mars I LED (hung less than 6 inches from the top of the tent)and I have two fluorescent tubes tied up in the corners for an additional 300w(they're 150 each and I'm considering 2 more for a grand total of 900w)for ventilation there is a 4" inline ducting fan that pulls 80 cfm out of a 12cft space with an additional fan strapped to the top corner of the tent for circulation of the inner air not to mention the LED has built in fans as well. I started 25 seeds, 21 popped, I culled 3 and gave 3 away and my seedlings are about a week old. The tent has maintained a constant temperature of 80 F and a humidity between 20%-30%. I have a larger 4'x2'x5' tent made by the same company. This tent will be my flower room and has three 300w Mars I models hung so the middle one is hung slightly lower and width wise instead of length wise so its light angle is perpendicular too the other lights. That tent is blinding when I plug it in for a grand total of 135,000 lumens. I haven't finished my ventilation unit yet but I will be wiring at least one 6" inline duct fan into the big tent and that will be pulling 120?cfm out of a 40 cft space. There may be a cold air intake and the heat exhaust will be ducted into my space heating ducts so I can send the hot air to the rest of the house. Somewhere in between I'm going to start mycelium boxes and create a forced co2 exchange between the tents. I'm going to make homemade charcoal filters out of coffee cans, cheese cloth and fish tank charcoal to act as a pre and post filter for the mycelium boxes in an effort to prevent contamination and to prevent spores from being sprayed through out my house. Altogether I've spent about 350$<$400 and I could have gotten away with only spending $140 but I wanted to buy my lights and tents when they were on sale and cheap so I would save more money in the long run. I'm highly satisfied with the effects of the LEDs on my starts they influence them to grow like pancakes instead of string beans. There has been no light burn even though they are in a tiny space with 600w hitting them. The lights haven't had overheating issues of any kind and almost seemed to run colder after they had been going for a few days. I only needed the ducting fan because of the enclosed space the tent is in and I only need the ducting so I can grow mushrooms along side my plants without having to expose them too to much. My roommate is using a 5'3'7'by GrowLab with a 700w Mars II model (hung at about 6') three 150w cfls that are a bright white spectrum like a T-5 and one warm color 175 cfl for a grand total of 1200w almost. The cfls he has hanging 2 inches away from the seedlings and they are LOVING IT!!!!!! Two weeks old already has 5 nodes in less than 1" of vertical growth and the 4th set is a full set of fan leaves with all 7 fingers. One is showing signs of an 11 and he only has 6 seedlings going. He's considering replacing the cfls with a 600w Mars I panel since they are half the price. no ducting fan going yet his tent maintains the same tempature and humidity so 80f 30%-45% since he's experimenting with increased humidity during veg by keeping a pan of perlite in the tent as well. All together his plants are looking healthier but they are also a good 7-10 days ahead of mine. I'll post some pictures in a few days and keep everyone up-to-date. If you'd like more information on where I purchased my materials from pm me and I'll get back to you on that, I have a person to send you too for the Mars Hydro lights which in my opinion are the cheapest most economical lights out there and the spank the hell out of the traditional MH/HPS set ups I've seen. If everything goes according to plan I'll be doing a cloner/ aero set up in these tents.

This is the small 2'x2'x3' tent that I bought for $40.62? I left a zipper undone so you could see the light spectrum coming through.

This is a picture from 3 days ago before I had culled any of the seedlings.

This is a picture from 2 days ago. Note the side lighting, the height of the led in comparison to the top of the tent and the fan mounted in the upper right hand corner

This is a picture from today. If you look carefully I have a 3 leaved sprout where as the others only have 2 leaves.

This is a picture of the Mars Hydro Mars I model. There aren't as many blue lights as I would prefer for veg state but they will offset the influence of the red lights since I'm using the side lights which are a bluish purple spectrum. If it was all red I would be growing males.

This is the 4" inline duct fan I bought for $30 it pulls 80 cfm and works wonderfully

This is the big 4'x2'x5 tent with three of the 300w Mars I's giving me a grand total of 900w and 135,000 lumens
