It is a 915. I got the coir from amazon. That being said, it's also available at my local head shop. Not sure of the cost tho.

I get bags of coir for ten bucks. I like it better than the bricks for ease of use. Although I have not done the math on cost. I believe the bricks end up being less money.
That is a beautiful pressure cooker. You should upgrade the jiggle weight to a pressure control valve. Look for my upgrade your all American thread. I also like using a hot plate with a timer on it. That way I can pc and leave the house or go to sleep. No need waiting to turn it off

It's a chunk of money but you will wish that you had done it sooner. Don't go smaller than the 921

Definitely, the 25 qt is only like 20$ extra on amazon. It says it still holds 19 pints and 7 quart jars, which is the same as the 21.5 qt PC. Gotta be a wrong description

No they both hold 10 quart jars. The 925 holds 3.5 quarts MORE LIQUID is the only difference I grew out of my 915 and recently scored a used 925 for $118. Added the new vent for the sterilizer to it and it's perfect. Oddly enough the wife likes it more out on the stove than the 915 that was shorter. Go figure

Tahoe...you use a hot plate huh? I've wanted to try that because it's not always convenient using a PC in the kitchen. The worries I had were most are only 6" elements and I didn't know how well that small base works with a wider PC. Also a lot of reviews I've read about different brands is so many ppl say they have a hard time maintaining a constant temp and they aren't even using them for PC'ing. Any recommendations on an affordable model?

Small bases create an uneven heating, i use: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Big-Boss-Induction-Cooktop/35469654?action=product_interest&action_type=title&item_id=35469654&placement_id=irs-106-m3&strategy=PWVAV&visitor_id&category=&client_guid=24a8e1c9-eeac-4028-993b-48a5bdfce15d&customer_id_enc&config_id=106&parent_item_id=35152377&parent_anchor_item_id=35152377&guid=0298e187-39c7-41b7-8741-25d132764d94&bucket_id=irsbucket000&beacon_version=1.0.1&findingMethod=p13n
its also great for putting your glass vacuum container on for creating a vac oven and purging oil at precise temps.

I would not to buy a hot plate that is under 30$. Those ten dollar ones are pieces of crap. The one linked above looks ideal

Yeah that's on my wish list now. Pretty ballsy though to put it on a timer and leave or go to bed.
Congrats on the new stuff there Rook!

So with regards to the 921 vs 915. I was thinking of going the 921 route, but the 915 holds like a dozen half-pint jars and prolly double if I stack em, close to a dozen pint jars and I don't know how many quart jars. If I EVER need more than 6 quart jars in the next 4 years i'll have gotten enough use out of the 915 to pay it off.
I'm strictly small-scale at the moment. He most I can see myself doing is MAYBE 6 qt jars. And not for awhile.
