Hmmmmm.

I supose you raise them just like any other fish.. You would need lots of room for them though, they get pretty big.

Yes i did a couple searches and from what i have read it is a costly and involved operation. Most salmon farms are in the ocean held in pens, with nets ect..landbased farms are what enviromentalists are trying to have people switch to.I read that a lot of salmon farming is done in australia.

You will have very bland tasting salmon too, the more 'natural' their environment, the deeper the flavor. Also their diet is very monumental in this. As it stands, most of the salmon we buy is fed a diet that is packed with carotene to give them their orange color, that they end up lacking due to their unnatural raising. If you can ever get copper river salmon, you should buy it, it'll be VERY expensive, but at the same time buy some farm raised atlantic salmon, taste them one after another.... although you may never eat farm raised again, the taste difference is SO signifigant, the texture as well. It's almost like a whole different fish.

Do you think it also has something to do with the fact that Atlantic Salmon for example, have more space to swim and work there muscles more than they would in a tank somewhere,in the same way a free range chicken and a farm raised chicken compare?
