Diphenhydramine causing intense and aggravating dreams

and physical discomfort during sleep.
does this happen to anyone else if they take a Diphenhydramine containing sleep-aid: disorganized thinking, confusion, tinnitus, bad dreams, vivid dreams, physical discomfort?
i think this shit can really fuck with a person, it's tripping me out.
mental distress seems to be prevalent; i mean i keep dreaming of haunting and disturbing things and it shoots my mood to shit; i also feel very scattered brained and it's almost like i'm experiencing hallucinations (visual noise, audio noise like tinnitus to the extent that it sounds like alarms are going from in one ear and out and in the other ear and then out over and over) and it's certainly distressing.
thing is i'm taking minimum 25 mg doses (for the past three nights) and it's gotten progressively stronger to the point where now i've had an extremely disturbing dream, that was very vivid and realistic feeling, with themes that are distressing, and has left me with back pain (in my dream my back was jolting constantly, and i fear i might actually be hurting my back, though of course this seems purely psychosomatic, but nonetheless i feel a kink in my back now) and now i'm a bit lightheaded.
be forewarned, this drug has some nasty side effects if taken for more than a few days in a row...i guess that's why it says on the bottle to not take it for this long. fuck me...i even got a lesser dose and it still does this shit to me. thought i'd make a thread about it and let people know...it ain't fun. it makes me feel fucking crazy, like serious, wtf. sleep aid my ass!

Yeah I can't take it because it just results in hellish RLS (more resless body syndrome). It's a shitty sleep, which if you're already not sleeping can seem appealing, but if I take DPH and still can't sleep it is the worst feeling ever.

I havent experience most of those (knock on wood) however i definatly experience super intense dreams. I never see it as negative becasue i love diving into the dream world. But now that you say something i notice if the dreams are too intense i dont get great sleep. Other than that i love dph for knocking me right out. I try to rotate between valerian and night time tea because i remember reading taking dph daily can be bad for you.

yeah, on day on it knocks me out...after awhile though...i am tired as shit, because i couldn't sleep, i just dreamt all sorts of crazy shit...some of these dreams actually got pretty freaking interestingly freaky...this ghost like infested this chicks mind and she tried to axe murder me, but i got her knocked out and tied up, and then i left her in a room where the ghost appeared to take her and freak her mind and she was spazing out and making all sorts of faces and shit...
i gotta admit, i laughed when i woke, i was like...yikes.......lol, those faces tho.
yeah i've done some reading and it seems that plenty of people have gotten similar effects before from it, and it seems alot of people get effected in different ways to the drug. fuck, i know now that it's not for me.

This kind of thing typically occurs when diphenhydramine is used regularly over a period of time, and can develop into a reversible waking psychosis. Antihistamines should not be used as sleep aids on a consistent basis.

+1 for Homeostasis sleep patterns. DPH produced similar results with my dreams, same with Melatonin. I prefer 5-HTP now

i actually feel like i'm still effected though i stopped taking the shit.
i can't sleep now, only go into dreams and then wake up shortly afterwards, although the night before i slept fine but not last night, and feel so uncomfortable when i try and rest...FML.
