Oyster/Agaricus bisporus liquid culture
    #22286940 - 09/25/15 02:32 AM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Hi there,

before the question in cause is posed I would like to add that this will be my first attempt at growing gourmet mushrooms and the top two candidates are the ones from within the title.

This will not be my first liquid culture and it must be said the ones in the past have done a good job with the species selected but the germination starting point was spores.

Now, the mixture (agar, malt extract, dry yeast, peptone) for the culture will receive after sterilization cuts of gills and a bit of tissue, hopefully not contaminated. The mushrooms will be store bought and as fresh as possible.

Will this work? I have found some information indicating that it will but no step by step tek, is there one?

There are plenty of TEKs on these boards just use the search bar and eventually you'll find what youre looking for.Check this link out, it may help a little.

Personally I wouldnt use the gills, just tissue from either the center of the stipe toward the bottom or tissue inside the cap. If there are any spores that make it into the mix you wont really have an isolated phenotype. It would be more or less a crap shoot.
