UPDATE!! So stoked to have just completed my first cycle with agar. Today I transferred a dime sized wedge from 6 plates to 6 jars of oats! Check it out! I couldn't have done any of this without all of your support and advice guys. Thanks.
MS Argentina>Agar>1st Transfer>2nd Transfer>Oats!
How many days from wedge to fully colonized jar am I? Do I keep one of these as a master grain jar?

Not sure on the time line but you can do that or you can save a small sample of the Agar and transfer it to another plate and keep it in the fridge. If you like it you can then take that and put it on a master slant. The grain jar is also an option but it seems like a waste of a jar to me just my 2¢

Shouldn't I see how they perform before saving to a master slant? I figured I would clone the best fruits from my tubs then transfer to slants. Maybe I'm overthinking it.

Congrats on making it to grain! Not to thread-jack, but I'm also having some success with Agar and culture isolation.
I had 2 decently colonized plates, so I took a section from each (2 from each plate) and put them in their own on 10/10.

Growing out nicely (though small). Seven below isn't contammed, it's just got a scar from where I, like a dumbass, cooled my knife in the center of the plate, any black specs you see are char from said knife.

8 broke into a bunch of pieces so I just left 'em where they were. Even that's growing well. I'm most hopeful about 9... it looks very clean with some nice growth as far as I can tell.

Good luck with the grain jars!

Sometime's it's good to store a culture that isn't been isolated yet so that you can still go back in case you isolated something shitty.

Whoops. Well I have plenty of spores to try, try again. Also, can I take grain to agar or is that not wise?

Nah you can, that's the only way I was ever able to clean up certain cultures. G2A is good for saving some time making more inoculant.

Good work! How many days since your transfer? What strain? What type of agar?

Thanks Inoc. I really enjoy working with agar. I seemed to have more luck (more aggressive growth) with MEA over PDA. However, I was using PDA which was probably formulated for bacteria over mycelium. While the PDA plates were clearer and easier to look thru, the Mycelium seemed to really like the MEA more. What's your preferred medium?

I mostly use Pasty's PDA recipe, but I'll switch between that and grain water agar for some variation in nutrients.

I transferred them on 10/11 I think. And I don't want to say the strain for fear of doxxing myself. I'm sure cops patrol this site.

Seriously? I think if you look around you'll see that if the police were going to bust someone that you wouldn't probably the be first on their list and we'd certainly be hearing about busts by now. Also, I'm pretty sure that they could build a case just by looking at your mycelium's growth...and your previous comments.

YOU WON'T EVEN SAY THE STRAIN?

What are you even doing here? How did you get spores in the first place? Must have had to tell somebody the city you live in to do that.
Strain name= doxxing
Got it.

I had to google Doxing. I figure if anyone is gathering information on me, they will find something whether it's there or not. But I'm a tax paying, mostly law abiding citizen cultivating for hobby purposes. People are funny. They will drink and drive, run red lights, steal from their work, commit crimes that statistically result in loss of employment and arrest more frequently than the cultivation of shrooms on exponential level. And yet...they fear that big brother is watching and actually gives a shit.

Nobody gives a fuck about us. There are way dumber, louder, more ambitious folks out there hastily throwing together huge grow ops to bust while they tell all their "friends". If they want you they'll get you whether you've done anything or not.

Or plans on doing something much, much worse and doesn't want this thrown into the mix when shit goes down?
