So. Uh. Hey. Maybe don't do that.
Just learned something I didn't read anywhere but that should have been blatantly obvious. Haha

Lol yeah. I have some lids made up with tyvek and RTV silicon, for these I was trying to simplify things a little by only futzing with one hole.

polyfil and tyvek suck. SHIPs are a pain in the ass too... use SFDs and just open the lid to do your injection.
this is a good SFD lid tek: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/20406855/fpart/1/vc/1

Durrr. I didn't even consider just opening the lid to inoculate.
Sfds are pretty cheap at shroomsupply, probably pick up a few of those. And some plastic lids, since the metal ones are already getting nasty rusty and stuff

I mean, I know at some point I'm going to open lids to inoculate with grain or agar, so that should have been obvious too. Thanks!

The thing I like about poly is that the one pillow I bought for like $2 will make filters for a really long time. And it's not that hard to work with, especially since I figured out a trick using a chopstick to help stuff holes that gets them very tight and clean. (Maybe too tight, not sure)
Just thought it was kinda funny that "hey, hot, in a thing that probably doesn't take much heat to melt" wasn't a thought that crossed my head.

Yea I used to use polyfill and chopsticks for a while. It does it's job but SFDs are sooooo much easier man... You can get a pack for $10 online, cut them into small pieces, and melt them onto your plastic lids. You don't have to use foil when you PC either. And plastic doesn't rust

Me neither lol. Honestly I really cut all my waste out. No disposable gloves, foil, liners, petri dishes (though I wanna change this one), sanitizers and no more tape . The shit I use is soap, water, electricity from autoclaving, and gas from the furnace.

nice
I'm going to try knocking out gloves too as soon as I get ahead a little bit more.
No liners??? what do you do about side pins?
I'm still thinking about how to get rid of tape (used for taping up the holes in my monotubs during colonization). Azur uses saran wrap but I was thinking about using magnets maybe?

When I was searching SABs, I came across a tek for using magnetic covers on the arm holes. Seemed like overkill to me for that purpose since it's never sterile anyway, but the same idea could definitely be applied to monotub holes if one were so inclined.

Yeah I just get a good surface hydration with good fae. If you can do it perfectly, it doesn't matter if you have a liner or not. Side pins aren't very abundant.
I just stuff bottom and top tight with poly. That way I'm never taking the bottom poly out, and it's always dialed in. I mean it's obviously more GE than what colonization needs, but I'm just lazy. It's so easy to adjust the top holes/take them out at fruiting
This is what I do for my sab
Taped the arm hole cut outs and use them as doors. It's never done me wrong.

it's so much easier when things are simplified, eh?

Make them the right size to be plugged by corks from half gallons of patron...then get to drinking.

@egg, it really does seem that it's best to just be extremely simple.
