I was hoping for a new flush but the last few days have been dry, so lots of the mushrooms were dried, making them next to impossible to spot if I hadn't known their exact location. Most fresh mushrooms were found in the shadow from larger pieces of wood.

You should consider a donation to your local herbarium specially if this mushrooms is rarely(never) collected in your area. Beautiful pictures! Can you tell what kind of wood they are growing on? Looks like a conifer to me.

I will investigate that. Thanks.

I looked more carefully today and can with very little doubt say that the trees used to be Picea abies, just like the ones in the background outside the recently created pasture.

I linked Jan Borovicka to this thread, and he confirms that both knarkkorven and ST1R have Psilocybe medullosa. He thinks this species is more common than previously realized, and now that awareness is spreading there will be even more finds. He has offered to do accurate GC/MS based potency testing on these collections (and any other Psilocybe collections anywhere in the world also, BTW).

At first I thought I found some more at a new spot. But the stipes are more brown/dark, some have a annular zone, and not the distinct smell I mentioned earlier.
So, what is this? A Galerina?

I can't find any photos with striation showing on Kuehneromyces mutabilis caps. How sure are you?

I am not very sure, you are right - K. mutabilis isn't all that striate. I was looking at the spore color on the annulus, which looks darker than the rusty spores of Galerina and also at the way the caps change color as they dry out. It would be interesting to see if the spores are smooth with a germ pore or roughened without one.
A spore print in good lighting would also be cool to see.

This is interesting, there are huge areas of felled conifer forests near me just like the habitat you found those in, I may have a look there soon. Are they known to grow in the UK?

Neat find! Just found a thread from 10 months ago, some guy found some in Europe in a very similar habitat.

I went back to the habitat a couple of days ago but found no new medullosas. Only the Galerina/Kuehneromyces/whatever species.. some in the same spots that previously had medullosas.
