Hey guys ,seeking advice from the vets

Hey before I start I'm just gonna give a quick bit on my experience (which is minimal. But still exists) I'm not going to name anyone specifically but my first real grow was a set of tubs purchased from a guy in Ontario , for 2000$ I got 8 tubs fully spawned and ready to go along with a ultrasonic misting unit .... I know way more than there worth but the way he explained it to me it sounded like a great deal with minimal effort....big mistake....I got just over 1lb dry out of the first flush and then 2days later I went to check em and the tubs we're the most sour smelling slimy messes I had ever encountered and that was that,,,,,, now the shrooms I got we're huge and potent but the contam explosion after harvest destroyed my moral n its been about 6 yes since I've considered giving it another shot......
I'm planning a big grow but with a lot more caution n sterilization practices,,,, I was young and dumb
Questions I have are 1 ..I'm planning on h/poo&straw as my bulk ,, what ratio should I spawn with? 50/50 ,60/40 ect 2 .. My fruiting room is quite large ,is it feasible to convert 4x8 flood tables into growing beds or is there issues with doing so much sq footage as a single bed 3 .. Is there a reliable way to pause spawn while I expand ,like cold storage or do I need to make all of it at once 4... Would the quickest way to isolate a strain be runninin a cplcakes n cloning the nicest fastest shrooms or d . I need to do agar 100%
Thankyou for any advice iv been reading everything here for months now and feel I'm ready to give it a real go n do it all my self from scratch

1)spawn ratio's with manure and straw don't matter as you can use both as is...up to you 2)big beds get harder to get good conditions and the risk of it going anaerobic in the center 3)grain spawn can be put in the fridge to slow myc down 4)agar is quicker then fruiting/cloning
--------------------
It doesn't matter what i think of you...all that matters is clean spawn I'm tired do me a favor

solid response will take all that into the planning ,,, as for the tables the only reason i wanted them was for the sheer volume of sub and i dont want to do a rediculous amount of mono tubs ,,, so instead of 4x8 would a lot of 2x4s be better or what do you guys recommend, i am dealing with a 4x5ft round bale of wheat straw and a pickup load of 5 yr old horse manure

Some people prefer greenhouses but I like tubs personally. I would s ugguest them over the beds, cause unless you can humidify the room I dunno how you will fruit them short of being around to mist them all day.. lots of misting
I use 4-5 qts spawn per tub, one of these spawn bags fits 5 qts perfect, I sterilize 4 quarts and G2G a 1 qt spawn jar into it. Like Cron. Said you can keep spawn in the fridge but I like to stagger my production, so you always have spawn ready to use and some in different stages of colonization etc
If you want to isolate a strain then you would wanna start from spores on agar, isolate a bunch of strains from the culture and test/fruit each out. It takes kind of a lot of work both the agar work and then testing all the strains, eating them all to test potency etc. But once you find a really good winner, your solid forever!
Cloning is much faster. Rather than start out cakes why not make some clean spawn with MS on agar and then fruit out some bulk tubs, pick out some good clones from that Then test each of the clones on the next round of tubs

Sorry to be off topic, but mushpunx what's with you tubs? Most of them don't have holes.

i like your tub pic it reminds me of that first grow before things went south so are you suggesting that i downsize theplan for now until ive isolated to perfection or near perfection,, humidifying the room isnt a issue it is a ex grow room and weve tested the misters in the ventilation and seems to do good,,,but i understand aswellalot can go wrong with everything wide open like that which is why im asking lol,,,, do u mist and fan ur tubs individually or do you have them linked up in some way,, also what are your typical yeils per tote on a isolate
thanx bro im lovin the feedback its gettin the wheels turnin in ma head

Do you reuse tubs after a grow? If so, what do you do about writing directly on the tub?
Oh and Kanadian, you don't have to fan and mist monotubs. You mist heavily after the first harvest. But they're a set and forget kinda thing.

Oh dude if your room is decked out like that all ready by all means go for the open air!
Although like Cron said about the beds going anaerobic, maybe spawn to lots of individual trays and just set them on the shelves instead of big beds. Also.. splitting them up into trays reduces the chances of ruining your whole grow from contaminated spawn.. better to lose a few eggs than the whole basket
The mono tubs need no misting or fanning. Once they are fully colonized you stuff the holes with polyfill and adjust the tightness for proper FAE, and you just let them do thier thing. I just stack them. Its great for home cultivates because you don't need any external humidity

Ah that's good to know , so I'll prob use tubs while testing sub strains to keep things isolated and then switchb tob trays for the bbig run,, Here's a question that's been probably asked a million times tho Staments in the MC says cubes can yield 2-4lbs per sq ft wet,,, does anyone know what substrate and depth that would have to be to achieve that assuming its a solid isolate with proper enviroment

Even 1lb wet per sq ft is acceptable , and I understand that it won't yeild more than the dry material put in but is that the same with straw or are yeilds less than what u put in considering the lack of multiple flushes .. Thanx again I apperciate any insight that can be given

I usually use sub depth between 3-4 inches. Most people will tell you field aged horse poo is king of cube substrates.
Most of us use it, and coco coiir/verm
I myself like coir/verm due to the ease of prep and I live in the inner city. I do add a lot of pasteurized straw in.
1 of my tubs will usually yeild 4 to 8 dry ounces first flush. I usually use 4-5 quarts spawn per tub.
As far as "strains" go, all the different varieties of Cubensis have the same potential for potency andyeild, same growing parameters, they just vary cosmetically. So it doesn't really matter which ones you choose just pick one that looks good to you. Penis envy is the exception, it is usually more potent on average.
U ntill you have an isolate or a clone the potency will vary each grow

Grow ban hau from spores 10 times and you'll get 10 different potency. The variety means nothing, strain means everything. You have 1000s of strains working together in a single jar if you inoculate with spores.

Yes I understand the variation I just meant I had a good experience with !BHT so its going to be one of my starting materials as I am sure I can find a similar sub within a print with a lil work, iv read great things about PE potency but all bad on yeild, has anyone ever had a good sub of this with all the potency but a normal cube yeild as well is it possible?
