Newbie first grow *** No fruits
    #2227763 - 01/08/04 10:47 AM (13 years, 1 month ago)

I am a first time grower, having some issues.

Some Pics of the setup...

Now the issue...

Even with this fully automated (x10) setup, these things are refusing to fruit. This is 48hours post dunk tek / cold shock at 40deg F.

History: before dunk they were in the terrarium for 4 days.

Anyone have some advice on settings, how many time to engage the fan?

24 hours post dunk tek / cold shock

I decided to case the 9 cakes that were cold shocked in straight verm. The other (just birthed yesturday 6th, are in the terrarium on thier jars.

Thanks,

Prof

atleast 2 of your cakes are contaminated, and the others do not seem to be fully colonized.

just for your info the ones that look really contamed, the one on the far right, and the one right next to it, they have jars touching.

He's right, the whole batch looks to have some cobweb like a muthafucka.

and what are those cakes supposed to fruit from? You should at the very least, put them in little verm beds.

Looks like you put all your effort into that terrarium. :smirk:

Ya it has a slanted bottom, drain, hepa main filter, then additional filter boxes at the air in and out. The grow tray has holes to allow any drops to fall down to the drain.

They were all fully colinized before the dunk tek. One of the cakes has one pin on it. More pics to come.

My theory is that they dried out in the incubator, I was wiping moisture off the sides of it everyday and had no means to humudify the inside.

Yea they look really bad Im sorry to say, but if they are ok and not contamed you still will not have any fruits so soon after a dunk...a week at best at least on any ive dunked to start to show signs of pinning. And from my experience which is not much ill admit, I will not dunk first flush again...let them breath give them light water and humidity and they will do fine. Second flush if they are looking bad then dunk. And by all means JetBlackNinja is right...put them on a lid filled with verm and give them a shot of water from time to time.

Max

Is that your final answer?

You don't get the million.

2 reasons those cakes aren't growing.

1) disease

2) Nothing to fruit from

Although you have made a badass terrarium, there are some base steps your missing while innoculating and colonizing.

Nothing wrong with ending up with a fresh batch of contams for your first attempt. My first attempt yeilded 12 healthy 1/2P jars out of 35 I innoculated. Fast foward a few yers and I couldn't get a jar to contam if I wiped my ass with it. That is just something that comes with a bit of practice.

as far as point #2, why the hell did you think just dropping those cakes ontop of their jars was a good idea? Did you read a Tek or something that told you it was fine? Did afoaf do it when you weren't there to stop him?

Take peices of tin foil, and fold up the edges so that you have a little trays 6"X6" with about 1.5" high walls. Fill with verm., dampen. and birth into those, you'll be amazed at what a differnce that will make.
