FYI....DON'T use square Ziploc containers. That's all that was on the shelf when I went to the store and assumed they would work the same.
After PC'ing and putting them in the glovebox I had no trouble getting the lids off....they lost the seal. They suck.

The round ones will eventually lose their tight seal after many repeated PC cycles

Losing the seal doesn't really matter toooo much if you're plenty careful with them.

I personally like it once they go through a few cycles and lose the seal. Easier to manipulate. Provided your not putting them up to your face and breathing heavily towards the edge of the lid, its not a contam vector.

Well it's like they won't re-seal after I hit them with a syringe. I dunno it's my first go with agar so I'm not expecting much...more of a practice run...maybe I'll get lucky with 1 out of 8. Had a lot of condensation in mine too even after letting them sit a week. Again...not expecting much success for first try so no loss if it doesn't work out.

Hey.. Uuh. Just my opinion here but wouldn't buying a.few high priced glass Petri's and parafilm here and there kinda be cheaper in the.long.run than having to buy a bunch of plastics and tubaware that doesn't.last.long? I have no glass ATM but I'm just saying. I see it.paying for its self pretty quick.

Yep. I initially was like, "Fuck, the lid won't snap on!" And then after working with them for a bit, realized it's way easier. Nothing more annoying than fucking with that ultra tight lid in a SAB after sterilizing a scalpel or something.
Now I just set it upside down with the lid basically off on an iso-towel. Pre-popping the lid FTW.

I'm still using all the pasty plates I made last year without issues so... I dunno how long you want something like that to last. It's less than 12 dollars worth of plastic. And that's for more than a beginner needs.

Check out how much glass petris cost. The price of one is the same as 4 packs of mini rounds or more. I am still using the ones I started with a few years ago. They can last a long time.
FYI glass is really slippery with iso covered gloves.

I got a bunch of little baby food jars for free a bit ago. I tried making plates with them. They suck. The lids are super hard to get on properly, they're too narrow and deep it work in comfortably, etc. I even laid them on their sides and that still sucked. I'll find another use for them later.

Love the tek. Made my first set of plates in anticipation of starting my first grow as soon as I get goodies in the mail and it was straightforward and simple.
I had a bit of condensation and some plates are off level, but it was my first try. I did learn that you have to be careful taking the foil off, at least one of mine opened when being unwrapped far more easily than I expected. That one has been marked for observation for contams and won't be used. Luckily I made double the number of plates I expect to use. Just in case. I am sure I'll screw up a few times on the way.
