I was going to mention Kyle Nolan and the chimbre center owned by a clueless profitierer brainwashed by a san pedro teacher pretending to be the most ultimate level of shaman that practice ayahuasca that in reality he bought from someone else who brewed it (A shaman should always individualize and know what goes into each brew that is made for each student), which also contained toe. Toe is the giant trumpet flower treas known as brugmagsia used to create the colombians devils breath from the scolopolimine, which is a delierient poison usually found with atropine and whatnot. Kyle Nolans case was fucked up as they burried the body off the edge of the property in attempt to hide the involontary manslaughter only to admit to what happened seven days after Kyls parents sought investigation in the manner. I remember watching chimbre develop from the owners movie explaining how he truly believed he was going to heal the world, end up just being a retreat that the owner would partake in whenever he wanted making it look that his real goal was his own access not everyones, to losing their mind believing they would stop the worlds end at 2013 by a series of specialized ayuhuasca trips, and finnally to Noland. It was by far the saddest and most twisted story of careless fake shamans and idiots who believe he could watch over multiple tripping people alone in the jungle while sitting in a treetop relaxation zone watching novellas (Spanish Soap Operas).
I wouldn't be surprised if irresponsible use of toe or atropine/sclopolomine related compounds was the cause of death.
Edit: The toe is added to give the americans the lightshow and crazy visual experience they expect. Of course without consideration to the extreme risks it brings.

Pretty sure datura like plants have traditionaly been used in the aya brews of certain tribes.
That is an incredibly sad and fucked up story though

People always forget that aya can be dangerous because of the MAOI...If I was going to do a traditional entheogenic ceremony I'd do mushrooms or peyote in mexico...

MAOI's on their own are not very dangerous. Stupid people are what are dangerous as with anything.
Even the maoi diet is pretty overhyped, all that really matters is drug interactions for the most part.
That is easy to avoid too, if you want a super clean experience do pharmayahuasca instead its like a mega clean mushroom trip.
Even better in many ways I would say. Of course maoi's with shrooms is pretty mind blowing as well.

Yeah I wish I could experiment with MAOIs and tripping but I take dexedrine which interacts badly. Going off dex is apain in the ass too since I have school and shit. I think I'm going to get off it after this semester and try Syrian Rue and something with DMT or another psych.

They are really interesting and sacred along with tryptamines, as long as you respect them and are cautious they are wonderful.
Something about them just has a great positive energy, I have microdosed rue isolates for antidepressant effects before with nice results.
Even a bit of rue with cannabis can be pretty interesting, the rue tends to guide me towards meditation instead of sitting on my ass stoned
