contam in dry verm layer?

hello friends
I'm on my first grow, I have 12 brf jars with 3 different strains
I noticed an odd smell in a couple jars of PE, so I got freaked and opened the tops of all jars to observe the dry verm layers, some of which have what looks like cobweb in the dry verm layers.
so my actual question is this: if the mycelium in my jars look healthy and are growing well, is it normal/acceptable for some weird growth/smells to occur in my dry verm barrier? at what point do I chuck the jars?
any help is appreciated in advance
much love!

what does it smell like?
and yes, you can still get it but there's probably something organic there it is colonising

I took one out of the jar to investigate. I broke it open to see if there was anything growing and its all mycelium. the weird smell is gone and I put tuhe chunks in my fruiting chamber just see if they pin at all. the only smell that remains is fresh mushrooms and there is no unusual growth. I've determined that what I thought was cobweb was just fuzzy mycelium
so my question now is, when I birth my cakes, if there is no odd smell after rinsing them and no growth, are they safe to fruit?

Fruit them bitches but I would highly recommend dunking for 24 hours and rolling them in dry vermiculite before fruiting them

yeah idk, I went ahead and threw out all the stinky ones. it was all one strain that was stinking so I'm assuming I got a bad syringe. I don't want to risk it, and I'll consider 8/12 a success for my first run. hell, any fruit at all I will consider a success

for sure, I can only speculate. the other two strains are not smelly nor do they have metabolites so I'm assuming they are good. not trying to risk it either way
