They have not been tested to any extent at all, by scientific standards

You are naive beyond belief if you think science ends there.
Who said that? Besides you implying it of course

there is as yet no evidence
It may not be "scientific" evidence but people using them for thousands of years is actually evidence of their safety. Generally after that long of a history of use many of the pro's and con's of something become apparent. Clearly not all of them but its not like mushrooms are some new crazy thing that could wreck your liver... Even if they are remotely hard on the liver so many commonly abused things are much much worse.

Not minding that time's passing by I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free

This is moronic, not the forum, the assumption. Yes, the LDL50 limits have been tested, as well as the safety; no, there is no liver damage from these substances. Just look it up rather than assuming. If you have poor liver function you will have trouble breaking down the actives. But that has nothing to do with the drugs themselves.

In one study, administration of gradually increasing dosages of psilocybin daily for 21 days had no measurable effect on electrolyte levels, blood sugar levels, or liver toxicity tests.[1]
[1] Passie T, Seifert J, Schneider U, Emrich HM. (2002). "The pharmacology of psilocybin". Addiction Biology 7 (4): 357–64. doi:10.1080/1355621021000005937. PMID 14578010.
The operative phrase: One study. That is the place where the ears shut. Now we definitely know! One study! You are naive beyond belief if you think science ends there. Studies come along and contradict other studies. And all these studies taken together start to give a picture a readable image, an image of which each study might be said to be a single pixel. When science is free to act and there is enough interest--think cholesterol, which has gone from being a devil to almost a saint.
I am not saying psilolcybin is liver damaging. As you say, there is as yet no evidence. I am saying that there has been so little work done on it, that the evidence we have is not sufficient to say anything for sure. But, of course, I WANT it to to be good for me, there fore it is! So, case closed. I will take it till I bust! Fuck everyone who tells me nay, go soft, stay on the side of moderation.
Just fuck off with your BS. There's no anectodal evidence, no empirical evidence, no historical evidence, no evidence from folklore. It's stupid to assume a negative with no evidence, and it's stupid to present an argument from ignorance and expect anybody to take it seriously at all.

Good. You are one of the ones who are going to find out. Who knows, maybe you will find something truly great.
As for me...I eagerly await your report.
-------------------- My father used to say: I don't care what else you do in life, just don't be an asshole. People, forgive me when I forget what my daddy said. Cut back the proliferating list of people whose opinions can hurt you. Unless they have done or want to do you some good, their views are just not worth tracking.
