Oats... Advice?

I have decided to try another grain and strain while my batch of Golden Teacher WBS jars and MS petri dishes do their thing. What can I say, I like to keep busy.
Anyway, I bought some whole oats from a local feed store. I am thinking I will follow this tek, but would like to know if it is still considered to be current?
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/21121313
For my WBS I soaked for 24 hours, but did not simmer. This tek calls for boiling but not soaking. What everyone's take on this one?
Which spores should I go with: I have B+, Argentina, and Malabar remaining.

Oat Spawn Preparation Tek by van der griegen is a excellent tek to use. It's hard to screw it up. Simple, fast and cheap.. I would suggest using spores to agar then to your grain...

I plan on doing so once I have agar that is ready, but I would like to do one run with MS while my plates are in the works. I inoculated them 4 days ago.

Here's another link for oat prep.
Grow whichever one you want. There's no real difference between the trio.

I just threw an edit on there too, added a little shortcut for people who've done it once or twice. Thought it was silly to have people fully drying oats, and soaking them for nearly so long, when they can just soak up the rest of the water on them during the PC cycle. Also OP, sucks that you have a 5 rating and your average is a 4. The rating system is so broken..

Thanks for the Tek! I'm getting started now.
I really had no idea what the rating system was until you pointed it out. I'm not too worried about it. Oh maybe I'm too much of a noob to know any better?

It's useful for outing trolls and people who can't be agreeable. A good indicator of how much a given poster stirs the shitpot.
I just watch out for people with averages of 0-3. Sometimes 4 just happens.

So the first six of my quart jars are just finishing their PC cycle. 15 PSI for 90 minutes.
The oats were soooooo much easier to prepare than WBS. Hopefully they grow as well.

First batch doesn't look too bad. They look like they deflated a little in the PC. Do they reabsorb the water while they cool? Second batch is in PC now.

They look great.. It's hard to screw them up..
I like to shake them a little so the wetter grain on the bottom gets spread around after the pc. cycle..

Aye aye Captain! The 6 from earlier are nearly room temp and look nice and plump now. The other 6 are still in the PC, off heat, nearly done.
I think I'm going with Malabar for these jars.

They reabsorb the water in the jar, yes. If they're still wet after 48 hours, then you can say for sure you need to dry them more first.
