Went for a walk in a new spot today found abunch mushrooms. A lot I didn't bother to collect or take a picture of. Almost all of these were found growing on dead trees. Habitat-wet ish mossy downed trees all over (hard wood, birch trees and cedar) thanks for the help.

1,2 might be Hygrocybe
3 looks like Clitocybe
4 looks like Cortinarius
5 Russula
6 Looks like a Mycena and maybe Conocybe
7 not sure, might be something like Laccaria ochropurpurea but I doubt it.

Looking at these in person I'd desribe them as more of a rusty orange. At this point in the season do you think I should stick to the woods or hit fields?

That depends, where are you and what species are you looking for specifically?

I'm in northern Michigan. Been looking around for gyms. The area around my house is mostly woods, a lot of down trees. Also have a few fields near by.

Yeah for sure look in the woods, keep an eye out for Psilocybe quebecensis -(Solitary to gregarious, rarely cespitose, on rotting wood, particularly in the outwashes of streams in the decayed-wood substratum of alder, birch, fir and spruce in the late summer and fall. Reported from Quebec, Canada specifically in the Jacques-Cartier River Valley, fruiting at a temperature of 6 to 15 °C (43 to 59 °F) from summer to late October. Recently found in the United States (Michigan))
Also look out for Psilocybe caerulipes there might be some late season finds out there. Looks for mushroom that grow on wood that blue when picked, good luck. We're here for you if you need ID's
