I am not a fan of Luck, but he was hit over and over again yesterday. He has no protection behind Colts O-line, and that is a big issue. Same thing for Gore.

Just read that Luck gets hit on 28% of his throws dating through last season....more than any other quarterback....ouch

Chuck Pagano should be ashamed of himself:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000536444/article/chuck-pagano-hard-on-luck-after-fourturnover-game

You go 0-2 in the first two games of the season and you blame it on your QB when it's obvious that the main issue is the O-line?

Bad strategy.

Luck gets worshiped, but throws out picks like candy on Halloween. He deserves some criticism not just endless praise, he's playing at an extremely poor level and isn't able to produce wins when he tosses 4 picks a game. You can blame bad Oline's and all that, but i've seen Aoron Rodgers do better under fire behind a terrible line many years ago, Russel Wilson albeit not great does better than 4 picks a game under a horrible line because he'll run and wont always force bad passing plays. The facts are he's playing really poorly regardless of taking hits he can still make better decisions with the ball. Colts look very bad and Andrew Luck seems like he too is still in his playoffs form from last year (throwing many costly picks).

Totally agree. Too many praises are bad for him. But at least you gotta give him a chance to throw at his level with a decent O-line (He had 43 TDs last year, let's not forget this).

Quote:

You are talking Aaron Rodgers. Possibly the best QB the NFL has ever seen. Not a fair comparison, he is not even close to Rodgers levels :2cents:

Quote:

This is true, but then you gotta change the system, because Indy doesn't play like Seattle. It's a completely different offense (look where Seattle and Indy are on this list)

He can play better for sure, but why drafting Dorsett when your O-Line is so weak and your offense so loaded with talent? Dorsett is good, but he is pretty useless if you can't throw him the ball because the offensive line can't stop pass rush.

I am sure the Colts will bounce back next week vs TEN, but they are going to struggle vs pass rush during the rest of the season. As far as I can tell, only PHI has a worse O-line this season.

Fair points, but you have to realize that their haven't been a ton of good lineman or a lot of good offensive lines in the NFL period lately. Colts Oline is Bad, Seattle's Oline is horrible, Miami and Chicago aren't boasting stellar Oline play, the list of teams with underwhelming to bad Oline's is massive and it's very hard to build a great line. It took Holmgen over 5 years to build the NFL's best Oline only to have it all undone in a couple of months by a bad GM who didn't franchise tag Steve Hutchinson. Dallas has arguably the best Oline and even their QB got his collar bone broken behind it. At the end of the day he has to play with what he's got and he has to play better. The system in Indy is in place for an Andrew Luck, Peyton played really rough his first few years and to this day still isn't good in the playoffs, Luck is very much like him in many ways and the ultimate replacement for him on the Colts.

Now as to the different style of teams thing do I feel a defensive team is better than an offensive team yes. The problem with offensive teams that have a lot of money tied up at the QB spot and on receivers is that everything has to go right for them every game and that is rarely what happens in the nfl. Just one bad performance from the QB or offense in the post season and their entire year is done. If the defense is really solid and staggering it can keep the team in the game even if the offense isn't very good. It is much harder to go an win it all only on offense vs having some super dominant defense in the SuperBowl. The Colts wanted an heir to Peyton Manning and they got one, he deserves the criticism he's getting and despite that will still be paid a fortune and will get a larger contract than Rodgers or Russel. So no I absolutely don't feel bad for under performing QB's earning disproportionately more than the rest of their teams, while then preceding to play very poorly. If you ask Luck does he want a smaller contract to build a better defense I bet his answer is no. Until the salary cap gets inflated more the top paid QB's really do need to produce at a high level to keep their teams viable, which as we see this season can be problematic. Having a large percentage of your entire teams salary cap tied up to one player means that one player really has to perform well and often for the team to be doing well. If they take the cap off then this wont be an issue and Seattle would be buying all the best players cause Paul Allen likes to spend to win. With the cap though teams get kind of committed to offense if they have a top tier QB in the current NFL cycle. The fact that the last several drafts haven't been producing any Walter Jones or Jonathon Ogden's just makes the NFL Oline situation even more unstable. I'm not sure where people think all these mysterious amazing Olineman are hiding haha.

I can agree with basically everything you just said. Great olinemen are rare, but you still have to look for them in order to find them. Drafting Denzell Goode with your last pick is not enough, sorry.

Indy made a huge mistake in the off-season when they thought that their main problems were the RBs and the defense.
It's great that they now have Gore (and he showed some flashes of his talent yesterday), but they greatly overrated their O-line, thinking that it would perform like last year (at decent levels, enough to give Andrew Luck a couple more seconds).

It should be also noted that Indy played two of the greatest defenses in the league, with solid pass rushers.

Jets have the best defense I’ve seen so far. That team could be mean. Plus their offense was working. Jets could be a playoff team.

Bills are still mid major.

Jets are a better team.

That doesn’t mean the Colts shouldn’t be 2-0 they played the fucking Bills and Jets, if they wanna win a superbowl losing to those teams is not a good showing.

I wish my Hawks could draft some good lineman alas that hasn't been the reality. The struggle is real :mad2:

I am just saying that if you give him a decent O-line, then he'll start playing like last year. He will still throw 1 INT a game, which is bad, but he'll put up big numbers. I have no doubt about that.

Gore dropped the ball at the goal line without even getting touched.  Just fucking dropped it.  Would have brought them to within 10-7

Yeah that was bad. You could see Gore drop his defenses as soon as he cleared the line of scrimmage with the open endzone to his left. In doing so he failed to secure the ball; very uncharacteristic of Gore to do that.

Watching him make those 10-15 yard hard runs, only to be called back due to his inept offensive linemen committing holds, it was difficult to stomach.

Whats up with Quality RB’s trying to palm the football in traffic in crucial no-turnover situations?

Love it how Jamaal Charles gashes Denver, then turns around gives them the win

In other news, the Packers look great despite injuries :bobmarley:

Still waiting to see if MN is for real yet or not. Pretty sure the era of the 2nd place Lions is over.

Curious to see about Atlanta, too, whether they've picked back up. Also, the Saints

Jets will collapse and not make the playoffs.
