Than vote no on 2 and yes on 3 it's not really a monopoly like people may think.

Based on the fact that they own and regulate the grow sites but anyone can lease the land from them plus they will add more if needed. I didn't see the word monopoly on the ballot myself. No one would care if other dates had something different.

I oppose a cartel/monopoly running things. Its better now with individuals taking their chances growing and profiting than to let a fascist cartel/monopoly take it over.

You can still grow at home though. You don't have to buy from them.

It really isn't a monopoly, you're right, but it's also a stupid thing to argue over.
If you don't want to grow you have to buy from a store that has to buy from one of the 10 manufacturers, or have a friend share one ounce with you. They can share eight ounces if you get the appropriate license.
Even if they increase the manufacturers it's still just going to be more of the same people. If you wanted to get into commercial growing, too bad. All of the investors were required by Responsible Ohio to donate $2 million. The people who own these places are multimillionaires. Former athletes, entertainers, wealthy doctors, etc.
The manufacturers can also set the prices at whatever they want, and the stores cannot sell them for less than what they purchase for. They don't really need to compete, they can just "agree" to sell high and no one can do anything about it because no one else can enter the market.
Additionally, the manufacturers are assigned counties. So it's a pretty safe bet that the manufacturer here in Franklin county will have a corner on the Columbus market. Same for Cuyahoga County (Cleveland) and Hamilton County (Cincinnati).
So if the initial 10 grow sites aren't enough, the commission can choose to allow more FOUR YEARS later, and even then it will just be more of the same people.
No thanks.

Yes there are 10 sites that are owned by people and are the only ten places commercial marijuana will be grown. You think they're just gonna lease them out to anyone? You are out of your mind.

I had a friend already apply to lease i guess we'll see what happens.
Edit: i would hope they wouldn't let just anyone grow with in reason of course.

I'm not really sure where you're getting this information either.
http://ballotpedia.org/Ohio_Marijuana_Legalization_Initiative,_Issue_3_(2015)
Quote:
The amendment would create 10 Marijuana Growth, Cultivation and Extraction (MGCE) facilities. These 10 facilities would have exclusive rights to commercial production; it was this aspect of the amendment that led the Ohio General Assembly to add the competing Issue 2 to the ballot.
The MGCE facilities would be run independently to prevent collusion, as required by the Sherman Antitrust Act. There would be no vertical integration of marijuana businesses, meaning that those who cultivated the plants could not also sell directly to the public.[4]
Property owners agreed to let the 300 people that each facility expects to employ unionize and collectively bargain.[5]
Each MGCE facility has at least one investor, some of whom are local celebrities:[4]
Former 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey Former Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Frostee Rucker Dayton pain specialist Suresh Gupta WEBN radio host Frank Wood Barbara Gould, a philanthropist based in Indian Hill University of Cincinnati basketball star Oscar Robertson Paul Heldman, former general counsel of The Kroger Co. Woody Taft, a descendant of President William Howard Taft

http://www.cleveland.com/open/index.ssf/2015/10/medical_marijuana_research_cen.htmlTuesday's announcement highlights the ability of those investors to lease part or all of their land to growers, researchers, and other marijuana establishments. When Northeast Ohio Media Group asked ResponsibleOhio in August whether entrepreneurs would be able to lease space in the indoor growing facilities, its spokeswoman declined to comment.

I HATE the specifics of this bill, but I voted No on 2 Yes on 3 today.
Voting yes on 2 would fuck with the casinos too, so I was gonna vote no anyway.

I sold land to the investor that wants to grow weed in Clermont County like a decade ago, and have worked with him on a few occasions. Maybe we're tight enough I can get in on the action somehow.

Right, so the owners of the facility can choose if they want to lease them out or not. It's not simply that anyone who wants to lease can.

No it wouldn't, the casinos are already in place. Issue 2 makes it so things basically have to go through a two step process in order to get voted in. Things that are already voted in won't be effected. At least that's my understanding of it.
