Weed sobriety affecting my quality of sleep

Hey all. Due to a recent move I have had to put a pause on my toking. I think it will pick back up eventually, once I'm all settled, but it's doubtful to be an every night thing anymore. I've been having problems when sleeping.
I seem to be able to fall asleep just fine, but when I'm sober my dreams are obscenely vivid. 9 times out of 10 I wake up in a cold sweat and almost near tears because I have super realistic nightmares. I'm also fairly certain I've been grinding my teeth because my jaw pain is always something that accompanies bad dreams.
I like smoking for the obvious reasons, but the dream suppression is definitely the biggest one for me. I miss being able to get stoned, fall asleep, and stay asleep without much interference from the subconcious. So shroomery, do you guys have any sleep advice? Any tips on possibly suppressing dreams, or saving my jaw from intense pain in the mornings? Anything really. Help a fellow shroomerite out.

Yup, marijuana has withdrawal effects if you quit too suddenly. Surprise, hippy taboo-reductionists!
I used to dab about a half gram a day, or smoke an eighth a day. When I cut down, I experienced hypo- and hyper thermia, loss of appetite, restlessness/sensitivity to stress, and sleeplessness. I'm down to about 1 bowl a week and it took me about two-three weeks to stop experiencing withdrawals. The first week, I got 9 hours of sleep total. Pretty miserable.
Weening off (rather than cold turkey) will reduce withdrawal effects, but other than that... Time is all you get.

Yes, the symptoms you described are typical of weed withdrawal. Fortunately they're quite mild and can be overcome with time.

I use cannabis to sleep, period. It only makes things worse after I run low and I'm not able to medicate at night as freely as I am used to. Particularly when I run out of my oil I make and take before bed.
In the meantime when I am low, I try quieter evening, trying to wind down and calm down sooner. Smoking a bowl directly before getting in bed. On top of that go get yourself some Valerian root. Some stores carry it in a tea bag, or you can find a botanical store online that sells it. It's a very strong and earthy root. I am fond of super dark beers, harsher smoke, and deep strong teas. Some people really don't like the taste of the Valerian, to that I would say mix the roots with something like raspberry leaf and maybe some rose hips, that really calms down the roots and beings out a sweeter flavour. But really there is nothing like sitting out in the evening under the stars with a drooped hood for the cold, sipping on a lightly steaming cup of earthy Valerian. I dig the taste, but that is just me man.

Now that's the kind of advice I'm looking for. I have access to a really neat outdoor patio area too, I'll check it out. Thank you

Valerian works GREAT for me when I am dependent on weed for sleep and if I dont have it. You probably wont feel anything off it but if your like me itl certainly put you asleep easier. Just put in 3 or 4 times recommended dose.

Oh yes ^ this. I would maybe also recommend Kratom, but I do not know how it may interact with Valerian, so be careful and check that out. But yeah TaekwonDude, Valerian is amazing. I remember my first cups of it when I wasn't such a heavy cannabis user.

Agreed, BUT !
to me, in a way it is just like weed minus the stone in the way that it makes you fall asleep.
And because of this, you can become dependent on valerian for sleep just like you can with weed!

I plus 1'd Shroomsh.
Being out in nature, secondly breath meditation. . but simply walking in nature is very nice -
and a little secret, that I've shared a few times on here but not many meditators know it seems - gazing on the horizon, for quite a few reasons. . . well I guess for just one reason hehe
but it relaxes the eye muscles, to look at something far away, so it is a very nice practice.
Dreams are sort of one of my favorite areas of interest. . . well, they are below most important issues but above any mundane ones
How to have good dreams particularly. . That's unique to everyone I am sure;
But once that has happened, & one is completely free of all fear or any other afflictive emotion - basically, infinitely - then there's a few more things about good dreams. . .
besides walkin' thru nature when possible, then composing poetry, and remember a phrase as one is going to sleep. . . it seems to link up that moment with the time I wake up. .
But in general - with dreams & so forth - just spending a little more time each day in peaceful solitude, or time spent in nature with no worries or demands, is probably the best medicine. To overcome any nightmares, is very possible - for anyone - trust in oneself, in the ability to overcome them, is the primary thing. . . secondly association - we pick up things subconsciously from people we are close to; so this is why a lot of the sages asy - don't try to 'fix' other people!! (for god's sake!! hehe), just transform your own h'art and mind, that is all you have to do. (Actually, no one even has to do that, but that's another story, hehe)
Apologies if I rambled too much; very best to you my friend.
