after a while, long about when you get to 1945, you suddenly realize:This can't be real.IT CAN'T BE!

The century with the highest proliferation of death, torture, weaponry, war and destruction, famine, poverty and overall suffering of any in recorded history. The greatest and the worst century ever.

I mean, what a relief! Can you imagine the horror it would be if the world were really the way consensus opinion holds it to be? God, I would hang myself so fucking fast if I still thought the way I did, say, 40 years ago--the way we were all taught by our parents and our schools--and, of course, our peers--to think.

On the face of it, yes. But Look deeper. And you find: All that is just a thought presenting itself to you now out of nowhere that was already decaying, sliding away the moment it appeared. God have mercy, thank God it is the way it really is, not the way most of us throughout history have thought it to be. We have mostly been slaves to momentary, fleeting thoughts called hopes and fears.
