San Pedro cactus? sorry if this is redundant.

I apologize in advance if this is considered a "utfse" or "wrong forum" question. I'm pressed for time. here's the short version...
My girlfriend recently reconnected with her estranged Mexican family. When we went there I saw tons of cactus growing on and around their Perris California (riverside county I think), one of which appeared to be San pedro. I have a retarded amount of experience with other psychs but not cactus.
Anyways, we went back and got a bunch. I planted the main part (picture included) and cut off about 2 feet. I've spent days trying to positively I.d. it as t.pachanois, because from my limited experience with mescaline it tastes worse than anything...literally...I mean, I used to be into chewing painkillers, which tasted far better and had a less horrifying texture. So, I want to avoid hours of boiling and the process of drinking it if its not even a psychoactive species. My girlfriend eats CActus for its taste...but thataintmeyo...
OK so, the cactus pieces grow up from the same base, but there are not horizontal arms growing out like in the cartoons. The picture of the one growing has had three large pieces removed, so keep that in mind. Each piece has six to eight ribs (almost all are 7). The spikes are small and greyish brown, and are in groups of four to seven, and are only a few mm in length and are very sharp. From the top (picture included) the columns are rounded (from my perspective at least). When cut the inside looks like a star shape with rounded corners.
I have decided and cubed about 2.5 feet so far but am waiting for Lucy to come by before I being boiling.
I'm on a notsosmartphone so it may be difficult to check back, but I'll try in an hour or two. I'm not sure the policy on giving out email addresses, but if that's within the rules then I can give that out when I come back.
Basically I just need to know if this looks enough like pedro to go through all the trouble. And a bonus question, do u think if it is Pedro, would it grow in the San Bernardino mountains in southern California, elevation 6500 roughly.
Thanks y'all.

Look like PC Pedro to me. May not be so strong but 2 feet should get the job done. Look up Alcohol extraction if you don't want to eat it. You dried it all up, soak in isopropyl or some other kind of alcohol, do a few pulls then evaporate that off and are left with little balls of tar you can pop like a pill. No nausea, no bad taste, nice clean mescaline experience.

Don't mean to take the thread away, but whats the difference or tell for PC pedro versus the more potent ones?

Oh no...I've got a whole cactus outside plus tons of it at her folks house.
OK well, I've gotten started. Took off spikes and cores (actually I forgot to de-spine the first few hundred grams but...i have a strong stomach lol).
I started boiling them around 3pm (not boiling but brewing). I took a couple tabs to get me through the long process. I'm an impatient bastard so I imagine this will help. I need to go regoogle the ten, but at this point I'm doing it largely off instinct. If I fuck it up then I'll use at as compost or something (the brew not the entire cactus) and try again after the various fleshwounds on my hand heal up.
I really appreciate the feedback. I've been lurking on here for a strangely long time and have a fair amount of confidence in the minds here. I was on yahooka for years (years ago..like...2002) until around 2010, but I live in the mountains, no CPU and cell web is like the internet. CIrca 1999.) I have mostly nothing but love for that place, but places like this, dmtnexus and opiophile are where I've tended to research things like this. I'm sure info from here has saved my life on a number of occasions.
What are your opinions on whether they'll grow where I live? I'd like to do my part, but I live at 6500 feet. However I read that it originated from the same elevation so...we've had three mild winters (98%of our plants in the garden lived. But this year might be el nino

Thanks for the alcohol advice. I've been considering that but didn't want to screw it up. I have plenty to work with (I settled on roughly 2.5 feet after cutting and stabbing my hands several times and getting lime juice in the wounds. But after its done brewing, can the alcohol extract be done from there, or not only from dried cactus? I imagine it would work both ways? Imma boil it for about 5 hours altogether. I love entheogens but I am currently in a death match with the fuuucking gas company..mafia bastards.
I'd like to reduce the amount of material I have to eat..so alcohol sounds like it might be a worthile process. I'm gonna airplane mode it for a couple hours while I trip and cook cactus...I'll check back. Gracias.

After brewing, there's no need for alcohol, you just strain it. If you want to drink the tea right there you can, or you can evaporate the water and have tar that way. The reason people use alcohol on dry cactus is that it doesn't swell up the cells so it's easier to manage and the evaporation is a lot easier/takes a shorter amount of time. Water is actually a better solvent for mescaline. You may want to evaporate the water down at least a bit so there is less volume to drink to save yourself drinking a whole bunch of snot.

OK...well..after a long and hot day in the kitchen I wound up with about a pint glass of beer and a half worth of liquid (I spilled a considerable amount after knocking over the blender...but all things considered, I think I did OK for a tripping dude in the kitchen.
I drank one 8 oz cup, then another half cup from 10 until now...11:28. I feel dissociative effects (k, PCP, dxm) but still drinking it. I'm just gonna keep drinking it until I trip or I dont. Either way this was only test run. I'm thinking about using isopropyl for the next, as the liquid is what's fuvking with me the most.
Does anyone happen to know about lsd-sp cross tolerance?

And BTW...assuming I have done all the brewing and straining, how would I evaporate the water further for tar results? Fans? Stove? Just let it sit for a few days?

Im pretty sure theres a cross tolerance between mescaline lsd and psilocybin but im not totally sure

You can just boil it off- mescaline has a high heat tolerance. (wait, unless youre using a alcohol tec, then don't do that- don't want explosions...) Next time, try freezing/thawing it 3x to burst the cell walls- the result is "cleaner" IMO.
