Holy crap WBS

Working with my first WBS jars, I knocked them up with MS syringe a few days ago...and have noticed no growth at all, then today BOOM! its like it colonized the entire thing over night! is that because i was shaking them, and all the spores just boomed at the same time evenly distributed throughout?

Colonized the entire jar overnight? Sounds bad, real bad. Even with a good isolated fast growing mycelium, it should take a week or two to fully colonize quart jars.
Get us some pics.

Maybe it is cobweb...but there was NOTHING there this time yesterday.

also, and as reference, I recently knocked up 28 jars including WBS, BRF, Flax Seed, and coffee grounds...and only 1 has contams (which was cobweb) and its isolated. All others were clean.

Why WBS in a 1/2 pint jar? As far as colonization, that is no where near 100% colonized with mycelium. Looks very light and fluffy. Stronger than cobweb though imo. Wait for someone else to chime in with a definite. Maybe you've been shaking it way too much and the mycelium is having trouble recovering and it has very wispy growth.

Looks good. It's not nearly fully colonized. But you were correct with what happened. Spores were evenly distributed, they all germinated admit the same time. Leave your jars alone for a few days. Let the mycelium recover and mature

haha yea it is a paper towel, bounty FTW...i didnt buy any filter paper or raid the local post office lately, but hey, i have a very very low contam rate, and it allows for G.E. so why not.

Wow, wait? You are using a paper towel as your filter? Is that the only means of filtering gas exchange?

yup, i know, its is not very effective as filter, but it keeps dust particals off, and the jars are being stored away from moving air, except once a day when I change the air in the large container they are in. I used to use real filter paper, the high quality shit, take my time and cut them and fit to size, but literally all i do now is cut paper towel squares, double layer them, and either tape or rubber-band them to the top. If yall dont believe me that it works, ill take pics, and show the progress. Either that or I keep a very clean area and keep the air clean around them.
and if im not mistaken, dont most contams catch a ride on dust particals?

Yea Id believe it in a half pint jar, sometimes you get a big patch to colonize at once using MS solution in grain jars.
But what are you planning to do with a half pint of WBS? Is it to be used as a master for G2G or are you making teeny trays?

I believe you and believe it would somewhat work. It's just a tad crazy. A water soluble Filter

actually, yes...im making some super mini trays haha...like 6x6 inch trays. thats the main purpose, also I was going to play around with G2G, like I said, this is my first WBS grow, and honestly I think its just easier to work with...easier to experiment with, and if it fails, just add some more grain, and keep going.
In addition, I plan on cloning a Ganoderma species that I picked the other day when i was hunting...I know Ganoderma are wood lovers, but is it possible to cultivate on WBS? or other types of Grain?
