Sounds like the presence of trichromes might suggest an extra potency...

cowsRmeat said: Call me crazy if you want (and no, I don't have pics to back it up), but I've seen trichromes on some of my plants' leaves before. They are usually very tiny and don't last long, compared to the lifetime of the leaf, but they are definitely present. I'll have to get a pic next time I notice them. I always assumed everybody's plants had them...
I have noticed them too. Especially on new, smaller leaves. This kind of makes me wonder if the trichomes contain a dense source of salvinorin a/b as myself and a friend noticed an incredible relaxing feeling on a single younger, newer leaves(between 1 and 2 inches) compared to one large leaf(over 4 inches). I don't know why but it seems like the smaller the leaf the more potent it is.
I don't know about the tripping aspect, but this was all done for the instant muscle relaxing effect.
Are you quidding?

Hi Folks I'm quite pleased to report that I just became a first time steward of a few Salvia Divinorum cuttings. The look pretty healthy... about 6-8 inches tall, with well developed root balls of about 2-3" square. I believe they are Blosser? strain.
I'm going to plant them this weekend into a mix of miracle grow, coarse vermiculite, and coco coir. Probably about 1/3 each. I will also put a layer of about 1 inch perlite on the bottom of the pot for good drainage. Over all I'm shooting for a light airy potting mix that will not dry out quickly but at the same time allow for quick drainage of extra water.
Does this sound like a good strategy? I am also considering putting some holes in the sides of the pots like I do with my orchids... to facilitate good drainage and allowing some air into the soil mix. Good or bad idea?
Finally, I've been advised to use Cana A + Cana B as a fertilizer but that was based on the assumption that I would be using coir only as a substrate. Elsewhere I have read that with potting soil using Miracle Grow at regular strength every few weeks will work will to support growth. Thoughts?
Thank you for helping a noob out.
Happy Growing all... =)

It's my first time growing so I'm by no means the final say. I don't see any need for the vermiculite or coco coir in your recipe, though I don't think it will do much harm. I've also read that miracle grow on its own works wonders with this plant.

Yes I was meaning potting mix. There are a lot of varieties out there - I think I have something called "moisture control" designed for good drainage - but also holding some amount of moisture.

I mixed in some loose dirt/sand in with mine. I'm not sure if it did anything to help, but I don't think it hurt

Just a quick update, she seems to be growing nicely. I've relaxed on misting daily, And have been putting water directly on the soil about every third day. It's beginning to get colder so I shut her window at night.

Sprayed once with a highly diluted gibberellic acid solution(15-30 ppm) a few days ago. Perked her right up. Not sure if I will continue using that or not, if I do it will be like once a month or less.

Here she is at 6-7 months, just about a foot tall.
What's up with the tips of the leaves?

That plant is very stretched. How much light does it receive?

 It needs more, I'm thinking.

Maybe even give it a boost with some seaweed extract and some fish ferts. Have you given it any fertilizer yet?

Sally can take stronger fertilizer than most people realize. She loves Fox Farms Grow Big liquid fertilizer at full strength. I've also given her Advanced Nutrients Sensi Grow A & B liquid at half strength. She will turn from pale to lush green in 2 days and grow much faster. you will see a huge different. I do this about every 2 - 3 weeks.
