Wow thank you I really didn't think someone would reply so quickly. I am very grateful for this community and all the help that is provided. Already I have learned a lot about mushrooms but I know there's still a lot more I can learn as well.

Are there any other board members who can confirm this? Not that I don't trust your best judgment and my own knowledge but It always helps to have more confirmation from experienced hunters.

It's certainly a gymnopilus species.

Those are Gyms. Taste a small piece, they should be super bitter. Like the exact opposite of how they smell.
If you take the smallest one you can find and put it in the fridge overnight it should bruise a blue green color (indicating psychoactivity).

Thanks for your help and further confirmation. Before I ever consume any kind of mushroom I want to be certain that it is safe to do so and these posts have helped me to confirm that this is some type of gym. I am very pleased with this find.

I definitely will, it's always better to be careful and to get more experienced hunters to confirm what one believes to be a psychedelic mushroom.  there are many others who have vast knowledge of mushrooms and I am not an expert. I have learned some interesting things already that I would not have otherwise if I didn't decide to go into the woods and see what I could find. The Internet really helped me learn about what to look for through pictures and descriptions.
