Pleurotus Cornucopiae Mycelium Running on Container Walls?
    #22267615 - 09/20/15 11:35 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

This is a pint mason jar with a small amount of red winter wheat berries inoculated with pleurotus cornucopiae on 9-8-2015.

They fully colonized about two days ago and began running up the sides. I have noticed this before (particularly with pleurotus) and was wondering if it is aerial mycelium?

Sorry for the low quality pictures!

Thats what i assumed, i was just thrown off by how far aerial myc will go. If i leave it alone it continues to reinforce the mycelial strands so that it can support further running up the jar.

I spawned it but i have a feeling it would have hit the lid eventually

overgrown blue oyster
Probably would have hit the lid and started growing through your filter if you leave it for long enough.

Oysters are impressively voracious!

It had actually grown the whole way across the top and into my polyfil filter. The rest was stuck to the lid when I opened it!!
