lol... you want room temps for colonization. 70-75 works great. There should be no reason to cold shock a colonizing substrate. It will only slow it down. There are some varieties of mushrooms that benefit a cold shock to induce pinning but any of the cubes I have experience with do not.
Also, what are using for a filter for gas exchange?
I just wondered because we usually remove the foil when we inoculate then leave it off. I assume you are using some type of filter or filter material right?

Ive had spore solution (that I prepared myself) grow myc.... and it took to grain surprisingly.
I would deposit a few drops of this liquid onto a few agar plates and hope it grows.
I certainly would not waste time injecting into grain.

it needed 2 months to reach 50% of the jar? i'm pessimistic about the future yield (if there will be any)

Indeed a long time but it is also a huge jar. I plan to break some of it into a larger casing.

Does this work it seems like it would in theory. At night it gets cold and mushrooms do grow outside.
Cold shocking has been debunked as far as I know. Reading threads of people who store mycelium in fridges, they say that they usually give them a day or two for them to recover. I think cold shocking will slow it down rather than speed it up. IMO you should shake it if you want it to colonise faster.

So far she is still looking healthy.
Is this jar looking alright? It hopefully shouldn't be any longer.

It is possible but is not my intention.
How do you prevent this by keeping in darkness.
I want to continue some of this myc into a spawn bag

So this is were I am at the photos below are what it still looks like. Growth has slowed down.
What I want to do is cut this cake up into a casing, do I dunk a hydrate before braking it up.
Would you say this jar looks healthy enough to remove, at this rate I want to avoid early pinning.

If it is stalling my guess would be that something else is growing in that jar. I wouldn't put mycelium from a stalled jar in a spawnbag if you are still thinking about that.
Anyways yeah, you should dunk it before crumbling. Especially if you are not gonna add bulk(which I wouldn't since you probably have something else growing in there). Bulk gives moisture more than it gives nutes and we still hydrate grains before spawning. I never crumbled cakes before but I think that is the way to go.
