Janky tits, in a few years you're gonna be intensely cringing at yourself. You're like every single teenage 'rage' bro I've seen in their neon wife beaters bragging about how they roll their balls off constantly and have overcome the vastly difficult task of finding drugs. I mean, everyone ends up haunted by stupid meaningless embarrassing moments that no one else remembers - but you're gonna cringe good and hard.
Or you're a charicature of a real human, like a cop pretending to be what he thinks is a typical teenager who's poppin' mollies and sweatin'.
that sounded mean. you're not a bad person. you're just so young and underage and you're going to blossom into a beautiful butterfly when you're 21+ and don't feel like dealing with teenagers spun out of their gourd while checking into social media to make sure everyone knows it.
ugh that still sounded mean. you're pretty much allowed to be out of control and make dumb decisions without anyone thinking less of you because we all remember(or barely) the days before our brain finished developing and you start thinking about shit like consequences and stuff, so as long as you're having fun, then keep doing you. Unless you're a cop.

I pretty much at every single thing I can remember doing or saying before 23-25, even quite a few after. It wasn't even too long ago when I decided to go back through some of my 18-ish posts on another drug forum just to see how much I've changed and holy shit.. I was fucking downright RETARDED.

I'm 24 in March, I'll be a life long cringer, I'm sure of it - but there's so much that changes when your prefrontal cortex starts coming down the home stretch in terms of development. I swear to god I can literally feel my brain maturing because my thought process is so different and so much broader than it was 2 or 3 years ago.
..it's also called growing up and realizing, no, your life-long dream of moving to San Francisco with no job at 19 and a few grand saved up is not bohemian and a beautiful adventure waiting to happen, it's homelessness. It's harder to romanticize stuff, I'm getting depressingly practical.

ehh, it's really changed to Seattle at this point - and I do plan to go. I like where I'm at now and am switching careers before I try to move from one end of the country to the other.
Also I've been poor in a big city before, and one that's a million times cheaper than SF, it's incredibly un-glamorous and depressing when you're drenched in so much sweat at night in a room with three fans, and you feel more like a slime creature than a human because you can't afford AC(or heat), and it sucks to be choosing between toothpaste and something to eat - though to be fair I was a total idiot and would spend all the food money I had for the day on a 5 dollar footlong or 7 dollar cup of frozen yogurt, and when things got really really dire I finally told my parents my internship stipend wasn't cutting it and that 19 wasn't quite as mature and independent an age that I thought.Quote:

how'd you pull it off? just curious, did you have to slum it for a while or did you get a good job right away? I'm not doing that in a million years, I don't need riches, but dammit, I need a comfortable safe home with a dryer that will turn on without you having to flip the basement lightswitch even though it was in the kitchen. I am not doing that again haha.Quote:

she's like 33. And JT, I wasn't busting your chops for that, you're probably well within legal range to bang a 16 year old anyway cuz of that 2 year rule.

I was looking for them when I left, mostly tech support since that's what I was doing in Florida, and I got a call on the way to the airport to setup an interview. He asked if I was still willing to relocate to San Francisco and I said "I'm on my way to the airport, now!"
I had arranged to split a hotel room with someone from another website and I was doing that for about 3 weeks... When I got here on a Friday night I took the weekend off, went job hunting that Monday and got hired, still went to the interview that Wed and got hired somewhere better and told the other place "sorry, something came up."
I was staying at some "resident hotel" SRO type-place for about 3 months until I could find an apartment. Trust me, it's way easier to find a job here than it is an apartment (unless you're going to live in the outer bay which is perfectly reasonable).

oh okay, that's a valid opportunity, especially for tech related stuff. What I wanted to do was kind of 'wing it', and I was like 19/20 and the most promising job I could've gotten that would've payed the rents somewhere in the bay area would be a bartender at a high volume place. Like I was an intern working for pennies and a part time bartender at a mildly divey sort of bar.
I'm switching from lighting tech/entertainment to web development and going back to school, and I'd like to move to Seattle in a couple years - but from what I gather, the salaries in silicon valley are so high because it's fucking impossible to live there otherwise. I haven't ever payed more than 575 for a room in philly and that includes a 2 bedroom rowhouse in a decent gentrified section of town with stuff to do that me and another girl shared.
San Francisco is beautiful, but honestly it's Seattle that's been hollering at me for a while now - but I'd take a job in a mid(or smaller city as long as it wasn't too small, like 20,000+ preferably) as long as it had a good music and nightlife scene relative to it's size, or if I could just see myself being happy there.
I love Chicago, and it reminds me of a slightly larger philly in lots of ways, so I think I'd adjust just fine, but the PNW's climate is ideal to me and in a perfect world I'd be on the coast.

Seattle is nice it just rains there a bit too much for me.
Around here if you go into web development you're looking to START maybe 60K
You'll probably be making 6 figures in 5 years.
That's what I've been doing the last decade or so.
