you say it's "dead" and number locked... not to someone like me who knows how to flash a phone, as can anyone willing to follow simple tutorials, i did this a lot ( not the stealing of course haha) to my old sony erricson k800 and more recently oin my galxaxy s which ive done about 5 or 6 times abd bought them in this state specifically on ebay as they're cheaper naturally
people are thieves though i just made a post about his myself and oppertunists will take what they can when they see one rise right.

Well how do you get passed the unclean esn? If you buy a used phone and the previous owner had an outstanding bill you can't activate it. Same with if it was reported stolen. People buy lemons all the time off ebay from what i read. I guess I've got some more investigating to do. I also should become more familiar with the technology I've become so damn attached to.

im not so sure, this has only ever not worked once on a recent galaxy i bought, but i sold it on in the same state and never got any complaints, the woman i bought it from said it suddenly went into boot loop which i had already becomce familiar with unbricking...if it's stolen that may be a differnent story not sure but unpaid bill might be as simple as usiing a different sim

I always thought sim cards were a terrible idea. That was part of the reason i went with my carrier. If I'm not mistaken i believe they are trying to change that though, and that bums me out.

There's alot of international trade dealing with stolen phones from what I understand. Those shady electronics shops you see in the ghetto probably will just pay cash, they send it to their associates in Russia/Asia/Europe/wherever who will crack it and resell them in shady electronic shops over there.
You are probably wrong. All they need to do is wipe the info and viola, new phone. Good to go and ready to sale.
Yeah I have no first hand knowledge really, but there's a ton of articles on the subject if you Google 'stolen phone international trade' or something like that.

phones can be jailbroken, they might contain sensative information that can be stolen and traded on the black market, then the phones themselves can be sold or scrapped for thier precious elements.
because theyre like.... um.... worth money and stuff

Stolen iphones are an absolute nightmare to use. They call it bricking. Apple became clever once again and basically made stealing and selling iphones a thing of the past. What is funny is most people don't even know this. My friend gave me an iphone 5c that was locked to an old account and it was useless. I looked up everything to try to take the account off it but nothing can be done. I even registered on a forum dedicated to unlocking phones and almost everyone said the same thing.
I guess the only option you have is to send it to a place in china where they swap out the motherboard and put in a fresh one or some shit. They are worth like 40$ for parts if you just sell it locked.
btw you can't just wipe the phone its tethered to icloud for life until that person deactivates it from the cloud.
