So I'm back with a new thread to log the progress of the 24 brf cakes that were inoculated with no viticulture contamination barrier.
Here's a picture of the survivors. They are all showing strong rhizomorphic growth and have been taking there time colonizing the lowest part of the jar. Any advice? The jar on the far right was kind of a "fuck it" cakes I decided to inoculate by refilling the syringe a little bit and injected -Any- remaining spores. I was happily surprised when I noticed this one doing well with no contains from the tap water that was used to inoculate it. We will see. Also- I took them out and am giving them indirect light to maybe speed up the final colonization area left Near the bottom.
Any insight into how 2 cakes can be used to make a bulk grow? They want to just fruit the cakes in a sgfc but would also like to experiment with a mini cake to bulk project. Questions: how long does it take to fully colonize a bulk sub with brf cakes? And how much better yield?

Its all about money nobody gives a fuck!- SOAD Anything I may say here is not to be taken seriously.

No one can answer those two questions, it all depends on your spawn ratio, genetics and you arguably don't get more yield then the genetics can put out anyway.
However, I'm excited to see this going forward. You should pick up the 1/2 pint wide mouth jars next time, the short ones. They colonize a lot better. Those tall ones are known for having colonization issues when it comes to the bottom of the jar. One theory is that moisture seeps down and makes the bottom too wet for the mycelium to colonize quickly. When you notice stalling completely, birth, dunk for 24 hours and cheese grate with the small side of the cheese grater.
Your cakes look good, just be patient.
Other then that,
