MUSHROOM THIEVES

Ever since I learned how to identify Aminata Muscaria I realized my front lawn bears the yellow american version on rare occasion. Last night I was overjoyed to find one growing by the christmas pine tree on my lawn and was planning on letting it fruit and release spores.
BUT
IT'S FUCKING GONE. Poor thing wasn't even 2 days old. All I found was a small shred of the cap. I'm assuming SOMEONE took it! I'm so upset! I was so excited because I thought the Muscaria season was over. I've yet to even experience the Fly Agaric sensation! I'm planning on drying and smoking this small sliver of a cap. I'm soooo disappointed.

This isn't the forum for that, and it was probably an animal, or maybe someone got rid of it so their pet wouldn't eat it, who knows. Hunting/identification would still barely be the correct forum, though more correct than this one, since it's just a rant, like you said.
At any rate, sorry for your loss. Things like that tend to disappear quickly.

Why would there be a piece of the cap left if someone took it? Sounds more like some critters ate it.

What critters eat Fly Agarics? I have squirrels, pigeons, and sparrows in my vicinity. There are no dogs allowed. In the event of another Agaric appearing, what should I do? I had just been planning on giving it extra water but I have hydroponic fertillizer and CalMag as well. Should I just harvest the moment I see it?

Also sorry for the incorrect forum section. But is it a good idea to dry the cap with Silica Gel packets in a plastic bag and then smoking the sliver? I doubt it's enough for even a mild experience but I am a lightweight.
tldr; is it possible to smoke mushrooms
If not I'll go with standard drying and grinding tea but it seems like an awful lot of work for a .0001 gram sliver of muscaria.
btw, can anyone see my avatar picture? I've been trying to set it and I cant see it.

Rabbits, squirrels, deer, slugs, are all known to eat them. Older mushrooms are often contain a lot of maggots so I would harvest them fairly early.

Thanks. Do you mind telling me what it is atm? I can't see it on my end for some reason. Thanks very much though I'm relieved.

None of the above in my neighborhood. It's strictly suburban. I think we get raccoons and cats at night at the worst. Squirrels dont eat agarics? I was thinking a lawnmower got it but there would be more than one sliver, I'm not even sure if this sliver really is the agaric, it might be part of the dozens of local Boletus I've been cultivating with great success.
I have literally 80 Boletus growing by my christmas pine tree. It's like a 5 square foot area of Boletus orgy.

Just ate the sliver. Tasted really good though it might just be a psychological thing. Placebo powers go!
Did some digging and turns out smoking shrooms is a god-awful waste since high temps break down the psycobolin.

Also, don't do this. Mushrooms aren't plants, they don't need fertilizer.

Yes there is, all mushrooms that contain psilocybin are agarics, excluding sclerotia. There is no psilocybin in the Genus Amanita.

lol dude finding random mushrooms and trying to smoke them thinking he's gonna take a hit of psilocybin and shit. Don't amanita muscaria's use muscimol and muscarine which make you piss and shit and have dark, lame trips? You can partially boil them or whatever, but still, just get some cubes, damn.
