Fuck'em dude. It's your life. Most people in HR departments could give two shits what your degrees are in as long as you have one. That diploma that you will get tells hiring managers that you can read and write along with problem solving.
I can relate to you millzy. I have been in school for 3 years now and have lost much of my respect since getting into school. Since getting into school I have lost my identity as a hard working family man. For some reason, working 60 - 80 hours a week is not the same as taking care of a home (raising 2 kids under 5) and studying 15 - 20 credit hour semesters, in the eyes of many people. I tell myself that what I am doing is going to pay off. That what I am doing is improving my quality of life. I also remind myself how many days I have left until I graduate.

My apologies for my cultural insensitivity. Here in Canada the only teacher we have are our brutal winters and the ever present threat of bears and coyotes.

if you switch majors you can easily get up into 100K territory. or if you attend a private university it could go higher than that. not sure how much med school is but law school is about 225K on average (including whatever you get your BA in). another reason i'm taking a break (aside from keeping my sanity) is to pay down my student debt so it's not that bad.

my university is 12K a year, and it's the least expensive in my area. i don't even want to know what the private university about twenty minutes away runs. it was 20K per semester back in the 90's when my friend (the one who ended up graduating from another party school - he transferred) attended.

My tuition would be about that if I was taking classes full-time. Computer science tuition is considered "unregulated" (similar to engineering etc) so it's more expensive than a typical program at my school (which is more like $7k full-time.) International students pay over $30k a year I think.

Yep here in Canada every university class ever is like 7k a year.
Wrong once again, BC. Medical school and lots of other programs cost far more than this. I don't know where you get your info from but you should check your sources.

I don't think that's what is meant :p
Then again I live in SF and work in software engineering.
It isn't uncommon here, at all.
When I started I was making 60K but I have 10 years experience now.

I started out in psychology headed for a developmental therapy track, but I remembered that I hate not doing things with my hands. When I switched, I caught a shit ton of flak from my brother, who considered theatre a worthless degree for people who didn't want to work hard in college. Well, he could fuck right off; in addition to my regular studies, I spent 60-70 hours a week working on shows. I'm not going to pretend it's an easy field in which to find a steady, well-paying job, but at no point does he get to fucking tell me I don't have to work hard to get places. And he's stuck in a medium-high paying career that he fucking hates. Who's the loser now, Brian?!

I hate to be the one to say this OP but you are in fact studying in field that offers little reward. I'm not saying there isn't a high aying job waiting for you in that field, all I'm saying is that english and philosophy aren't very useful when it comes to real life. Unless you want to write an philosophy book that is.
All education is good education in my opinion. It's just that the world doesn't see it that way
