Quest for Fire

Have you guys scene this film from way back in 1981, I caught it on netflix the other day and it was simply phenomnoal... It's supposed to occur in the Paleolithic age 80,000 years ago but scientifically it would have had to be more like 150,000 years ago. Anyways, the story is a lot about competition and control of fire, but sometimes they find or steal it. So we have the neanderthals that are typical cave men, they spend a lot of time resting, no culture, no language, no tools, can't make fire.... They mostly find their fires.... then we have the homo erectus (bigfoot like creatures) kick their ass off their rock, and taking what fire they can..... and finally we have the h. sapiens who are tool using, linguistic, have humor...... shaman leaders who can exile.... not a drop of comprehensible language in the film, but Anthony Burgess (author of a clockwork orange) helped develop the language for the h. sapiens Anyways, it's currently on Netflix and should anyone want to give it a watch and discuss the psychological developmental stagees of each group.

Sounds great, I'll give it a watch.
On the subject of films, I watched an amazing one last night; 'They Live'. The underlying social commentary was brilliant, and really funny at times.

I got the normally five pack ones but there were extra smaller ones so a six pack for five value. Kind of bummed the small one was pink, maybe save it to hand off to some chick. Or not.
But yeah, Quest For Fire, I liked the rough sex scene with Rae Dawn Chong getting the dong. She was kind of bummed because that cave man actually did her and it was kind of impromptu. Clockwork Orange director was of course good with it.

No way did Stanley Kubrick direct the flick, it was a French guy and I would butcher his name without looking it up..... but the author of A Clockwork Orange, Anthony Burgess was intimately involved, created the language for the h. Sapien tribe... And of course Kubrick directed A Clockwork Orange....
Well, what was interesting to me is that the last time they show them having sex, she stops him from putting her face down ass up and she lays on her back with her leg spread and that time she really gets into it, I contact etc... She's infinitely more sophisticated than him, I wonder why she would choose him... Big dick?

Tim Leary speculated that our psychological development mirrors the evolution of our species, so you know from moving towards safety and fleeting danger, to social hierarchies, to using tools and language, and finally village elders 'adult personalities' that create taboos etc.... That's the last step for the average human and then you die..... but he speculated our genetic code contained future blueprints, which could be activated through drugs, being free of pain turned on by cannabis, a sort of akashic record of our evolution turned on by shrooms/mescaline, metaprogramming turned on by acid, and then something sort of quantum turned on by high doses of acid or ketamine... Is quite interesting, if you ever get the chance read The Game of Life by Timothy Leary.

Yep, Prometheus Rising explains it better but once you've read that The Game of Life really ties a whole lot of things together, I-Ching, Tarot, etc. into it all ..

That one is on my 'to read' list and will be coming up very shortly after a previous recommendation for you DQ. Thank you.
Just added The Game of Life, thanks CJ! Will start chugging through the list of films you put up recently too!

Oh, yes, indeed. New Falcon actually re-released the Game of Life just a few months ago, and it's in a standard format. An email exchange developed, and they asked me to critique the new format. It was fun! As you can imagine, converting the old, large format into a standard paperback took them years. But they did a great job, and I urge everyone to buy a copy!

well, if you haven't watched the ron fricke stuff Baraka, Samsara, Koyannaqatsi, Powaqattsi, you gotta watch all those...
I don't think I listed but anything directed by Wes Anderson is a must watch, The Grand Budpaest Hotel Fantastic Mr. Fox! (just watched this, best cartoon/animated flick ever), The Darjeeling Limited, The Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore, Bottle Rocket, & Moonrise Kingdom
Also everything by Todd Solondz - Palindromes, Storytelling, Happiness, Welcome to the Dollhouse
These are some of my favorites
For fun of recent, this is dumb fun, but it's about the DNM and BTC and straight A students who get caught up in it, Dope... that is just fun man
Um Paper Towns of late too, paper towns are basically towns that are fake that are put on maps for copyright protection to prevent forgery...
Speaking of Forgery "F Is For Fake" is fucking brilliant
I love film so I could do this all day heheh

Oh that's brilliant, I hate New Falcon books though because mine always fall apart, like they don't glue them together properly to the spine, pages fall out
the old copy though is quite expensive, I lucked out and found it at the Association for Consciousness Expansion for $25.... me and RAW flipped through it together.... We both happened to be wearing the same Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band shirt... I asked him about Christopher S Hyatt, told him he could be a bit intimidated and RAW roared with laughter and said he's a big pussycat

I have a flick in mind for you DQ, it's called The Institute, it's like this wildly insane social psychology game experiment that happened in S.F.
here's a trailer, have never seen anything like it....
