Drain Isn't Draining

I've noticed that my shower isn't draining well. By the time I'm done with my shower, I've got water up to my ankles. I first snaked the drain and a little hair came up, but it still wasn't draining. Then I got some of that industrial strength draino from the hardware store, followed the directions on the bottle, and it still didn't help.
I'm dealing with a pop-up drain that looks almost exactly like the picture below.
Any ideas on what to try next? I'd really like to try and not have the super in here if possible.

you probably still have more hair in it. use tweezers. there might be some cum as well so wear gloves unless you just don't give a fuck.

also, it you didn't figure out how, you can undo a screw under the plug to remove it while you clean the drain.

Depending on its design, either that little cap twists off (maybe with pliars), or twist the whole thing while it's half-way down. If the cap twists off, you'll see a piece on top for a flat-headed screwdriver to remove the center part.
Depending on how old the stopper is, it may be difficult to remove, and even may break the drain.
The 10-minute Draino works awesome - only for clogs inside the drain pipe. Hair clogs are usually hung up at the stopper and holding bigger clumps of hair further down. After removing the stopper, I usually take a long razor knife and cut up the hair that's hung up on the stopper area (looks like an "X" with a hole in it).

Then, run hot water to clear it all through.

Thanks for the advice, guys! I had some issues taking the cap off. It's been on there a long time, it seems. I was able to make the opening a bit bigger with the little unscrewing I could manage. I ended up using this screwdriver that got half blown apart while doing some electrical. My Dad thought the power was off and it wasn't. I was able to pull up the huge hair clump. It drains well now, so I can clean it.
I'm wondering why the snake missed it in the first place. I thought I went far enough. Maybe I hit a pocket or something and the tip got through?
Also, any ideas on how to keep the hair out of a drain like that in the first place?

Only allow bald people into the shower.

snakes aren't always the best tool. drain cleaner is crap. hairy drains are a part of life.

Basically.
If you have a basement or an access panel you can access the trap, taking it apart and cleaning it out is how I deal with clogs and whatnot both on service calls and at my house, better and easier than a snake.

This is what I'd do, too... if I was getting paid $70/hour, and not by the job. It takes me all of 2 minutes to remove a tub stopper, remove the stoppage and put it back together - without having to deal with a crowded basement or stick my hands into a spider infested access panel (I HATE spiders).

She said she couldn't get the stopper off...
That's the first step though, if I get it off and there's an obvious clog right there I take it out then test it. If it goes any deeper than that I'm just taking the trap off and cleaning it out.
I hate fucking with snakes, spiders I don't mind, lol.

Yeah, I was having real issues getting the stopper off. It's been there a while and it seems that whoever tried to work on it before may have stripped the nut underneath or something. I couldn't get the wrench to stay, didn't matter if I used the proper sized one or one of those adjustable ones.

Wow are you still dealing with this? Above the drain under the spout is a little round overflow grill. Take that part loose and run the snake down through there....or fish out what you can with a coathanger bent with a hook on the end...that's pretty much where a plumber starts to unclog a tub.

Hey man,
I have the exact same type of drain you do. You should get one of these drain covers.

As you can see it catches hair pretty well. At least my wife's long hair. It doesn't catch all of it though.
You should also get a length of coat hanger or copper wire and make the end into a little shepherds hook. Every few months use it to clean the drain out. It's fucking disgusting but works like a charm.

If u still have a draining problem, i suggest getting a 50ft electric powered snake and taking the drain off and snaking out the drain as far as u can.

I went to the store and bought a snake a while ago, and I'm sorry I wasted the $20.
Here's how I ended up fixing this:
I got really drunk and really mad at the shower drain. I grabbed a pair of pliers and used my drunken Hulk strength to loosen the damn thing finally. When I got it off, there was the glob of hair right on top. It got missed by the snake because it was literally right on top.
The lesson I've learned here is that, if something is stuck, just get drunk and force it open.
