I found some stunzii today, and when I got home, I boiled some cardboard, let it cool, then mixed stem butts into it hoping to grow some mycelium. I'm trackin to give the growing mycelium FAE. But once it's covered, I plan on putting the cardboard in my yard. I know it is not the technical way to do this, but I figured wth, I was gonna probably throw the stem butts away any ways. My question is, does this stand a chance? I don't even know if stunzii mycelium will spawn on cardboard lol. Just a little experiment

You got a lot of reading.
No. It probably doesn't stand a chance with your experience level but you can still salvage the stem buts by taking pieces of them to agar-petri dishes to grow out the mycelium and separate them from contamination. How did you transport the mushroom?
Edit: You can also look up brown rice petri dishes and grain petridishes which can be done with more common home materials. I would ask Cronicr about that. Search for his '50 dollar adventure'

idk stunzii, but I have done this in a sterile condition, with oyster mushrooms. I took a wild sample, cloned 1 to agar, and took severa wedges and placed them on different levels in a mason jar with shredded PCd cardboard, and the mycelium took off, I think sprinkled the shredded carboard over some pasteurized wood chips in a wicker basket, and 1 month later i had fruits...It sounds to me that you just cut some stems, threw them under some wet cardboard and are hoping to get lucky...very doubtful...but best of luck!

Oyster mycelium is a whole 'nother animal, being a wood-lover for a start. But that is an awesome experiment. How did they taste?

dude yea tell me about it...i was afraid to put my finger near the mycelium because i might not get it back, some seriously aggressive mycelium for sure. They tasted great, i picked them at young adults...right out of the pin stage and did a few things with them...
1. Made an omelette 2. Sauteed with onions and broccoli cabbage (asian style) 3. Made a cream of oyster sauce (like cream of mushroom soup) and added that over roasted chicken breast 4. ate a few fresh and chopped over a texas style BBQ salad.
all of which were amazing and worth taking the trouble to do again, especially seeing as if I had bought the same amount in a fresh market, I would have payed $40-60 for them.
