anything is an option
it just depends what you want out of it
i always tried to stay contaminate free so no spores all over
maybe had <=5%

Ovoids !!!!
U will enjoy these! Are you fruiting outdoors? I usually dose around 2 grams with these and have a great experience! They aren't as long lasting as cubes for me, but are more enjoyable!
Mycelium is supposed to be easy to colonize and resistant, but many have trouble fruiting...
Good luck!

thanks they are supposed to fruit in spring/early summer so i figured they would be a nice addition to the azure spawn i have going.
and yeah i am making an outdoor patch.

Are they stalled out? Looks like it to me.
Bacteria usually spreads like a blob or a slime when on a solid substrate... Do the spots look fuzzy/hairy/fibrous?

soak it in hydrogen peroxide for a while then try to fruit it? it might work it might not but it is better than throwing in the trash. you might learn something. just a thought.

well actually i still have a little squirt of the syringe left and i am just getting into agar, so maybe i can get some clean myc that way. so i think ill dump them in my garden with some woodchips and see what happens.
the cakes are not stalled out, and some of the yellow spots are cottony, but now a lot of yellow goo is also showing up.
in any case this confirms a dirty syringe (2 in a row actually) and contamination, not the wrong species.

stevo said: I would not recommend using h2o2. Its true that it kills the mold back but also really fucks the good mycelium up badly, assuming there is any. If that is ovoid myc dirty or not Id say you have about a 0% chance of fruiting off of a cake like that. What I would do is mix it up with some mulch and put it in a well aired out tub or flower pot outdoors or even on the ground. It may sound creepy but all of the species youve mentioned are very aggressive and will outlive most contaminations when put in the right environment. Good luck
I agree with him. The h202 will possibly work but will stall the myc out and inhibits it's vigor if soaked and if I thought it was cobweb and u could spray a layer of h202 on then give it fae I would say go for it, but that is not cobweb...
I dunno what it is
Also isn't this ps cyan myc? I thought ovoid was coming in the mail? Doesn't matter either way... "Cottony" isn't good ... If it sporulating it will be hard not to transfer over both bad and good....
If it's multiple cakes u could experiment and do h202 and do what Stevo said and see which one works

meh i thought there might be a chance they just sent a mislabelled syringe, but this is clearly a contam so i don't think i will do any experiments with these jars except that i might as well bury them in my garden instead of my trashbin.
and yeah it was Ps. cyans, the ovoid was sent as a replacement cuz they were out of cyans.
like i said i am getting into agar and i still have a few drops left in the syringe. enough for several attempts. with luck i might be able to get something out of that. if not so be it. i still have the ovoids and some healthy azure spawn so i really have nothing to complain about.
