organic fruiting chamber?
    #22257581 - 09/18/15 07:04 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

ok there are probably 101 reasons this won't work, but i had to ask anyway.

i was reading this thread: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22105120
and i got to thinking about a fruiting chamber using an organism to provide humidity and fresh air etc.

i imagine a tub with on the bottom some kind of moss or grass,
holes in the sides and no lid.

do plants or mosses consume enough co2 and produce enough oxygen to make this worth considering?
what about the moisture that plants excrete?
could what a plant or moss does cause air currents that can syphon in fresh air or something like that?
should i switch to a different strain of weed?

Im sure this has already been done.
Except w/ grass seed..
Basically planting the grass seed into your casing, after applying.
The grass grows & acts as a micro-climate.

Alien OG, here :bigjoint:

I've never seen it done personally

Why don't you just use perlite?

well my current setup is geolite based, i was just kind of wondering out loud.

one thought is that if you can have the grass create the micro climate
it might replace much of the fruiting chamber.
and it seems the less plastic you have surrounding your shrooms
the more fresh air they will get.

also i wonder if a patch of grass or something might be host to micro organisms
that actively deter contams.
