Yea we got around 2 feet. And D.C. is never prepared for that type of shit. People get all up in a craze like its the end of the world.
And the caps are usually good in the east during the regular season. They just keep losing game 7s. They won a presidents trophy a few years ago, and made it to the Stanley Cup back in '98. They have advanced passed the second round just once other than that.

Dennis Wideman on game 4 of his 20 game suspension.
Gaudreau, Monahan and Bouma all healthy scratches on this night. Toronto is getting lit up.

Even the snow cities are not always prepared. I lived in St. Paul MN in 91 and they got 40 inches on Halloween and they hadn't yet attached the plows to trucks. I lived on this really cool block, Grand Avenue, lots of smaller colleges, and trendy shops, and one block away from Summit Ave., the mansion district where F. Scott Fitzgerald grew up At any rate I'm driving this little shitbox 81 Olds Omega (13 inch wheels). I'm getting stuck almost every block cause this car is too low. College guys ran up and pushed me out every time. It really amazed me because I had Illinois plates.
After the first Mayor Daley died, they elected his Chicago Machine choosen successor. Michael Bilandic. Before the next election there was a huge snowstorm, and they did not get the snow cleared. So Jane Byrne the first and only woman mayor of Chicago, got in just because of the snow.
I guess in the U.S. Buffalo probably gets the most snow. In snow cities there is literally no place to put it no matter how many plows you have. They to put it in trucks and figure out some place to dump it.

I was in Buffalo for the Blizzard of '77. And you are right They have to truck the snow out because there is no place to pile it. Same thing happened in Boston last year.

Yeah I lost my grandfather in the Chicago storm of 67. He was only 63 and had no record of kidney problems, but he got uremic poisoning and it took them 3 days to get him to the hospital. He was alive when he got there but didn't make it.
I was in 5th grade. We had a snow hill at my school where they plowed everything, that lasted for 2 months. We had huge king of the hill battles every day, one classroom against the rest. Our teacher was Mrs. Miller, so we were "Millers Mob".

They were playing Toronto last night, and T.O traded Phanuf to Ottawa. Bob Hartley probably said "If toronto doesn't get their best player, you aren't getting your best players either. Now go win."
There were some really high scoring games yesterday. I was watching a bit of the LA Bos game, but turned it off before it got crazy.

Chicago got embarrassed by Dallas yesterday. so they've been goin back and forth. It's hard to pick anyone else from the West, except LA unless St.Louis picks this as the one year out of fifty they will play playoff hockey.
What's doin in the East. We all know Washington is dominating. Anybody else we should looking out for? I know anything can happen, but if anything the salary cap is seeming to bring the favorites to the later rounds.

Look out for the Penguins.
After getting Letang back they are looking crazy. Crosby has been producing nearly two points per game for the past few weeks now. I'd watch out for the Pens for sure. Other than that, I'd say the usual suspects are contenders: Rangers, Islanders, Lightning, Redwings, and as crazy as it sounds (I am just now becoming a believer), the Panthers.
Lol, watch out West Coast! Jagr and The Florida Panthers are coming for you!

This is looking like the first time in 45 years that no Canadian team will get into the playoffs. Montreal is 5 points below a dangerous Lightning team.
This is bad for the game; It's the Canadian National Sport. They still produce more talent than any country and almost always win the Olympics. Most of it I guess is money. taxes etc.

The Hawks got Andrew Ladd back from Winnipeg. He was a salary cap casualty after the first Cup. He goes right on to the first line at left wing, with Toews and Hossa where he should add some scoring punch to the first line, which has been concentrating for several years on shutting down the other team more than scoring themselves. Kane has been on the second line, for years, and is arguably the best offensive player in the league, especially now playing with the two Russians.
It's a great move for Bowman, and we keep Shaw. The Hawks have been up and down lately, but we never worry. Once the playoffs start everybody knows we are, at worst, one of the 3 or 4 contenders.

Damn that was a great game between the Caps and Hawks. The caps are going to have to learn to play a full 60 minutes of disciplined defense if they want to win this year...

in the last 3-4 weeks the Hawks have gone from the second highest team in the Vegas Stanley Cup futures, to a steaming pile of dogshit ( I mean amomg American teams). I know the odds are nicer. I have friends who put 1K on the Hawks at the beginning of ev ery season. I'm losing faith. Maybe 20$.

Perhaps I spoke too soon when I called that Holtby would be the first ever NHL goalie with a 50 win season (granted games can no longer end in ties). With 9 games remaining on the capitals schedule, based on the scheduling, Holtby is likely to start in 6 more games, but there is no guarantee. He has 45 wins on the season. It should be interesting.
Ovechkin is poised to bring in his 4th consecutive, and 6th overall, Rocket Richard Trophy. He is clearly the best goal scorer of the butterfly goalie era.
The Capitals can clinch the presidents trophy tonight with a win, or a dallas loss/shootout win. They have already clinched the conference, and they may just clinch the presidents before any other eastern team has even secured a playoff spot.
Of course all of these grand accolades amount to jack shit (other than home ice advantage) when it comes to the playoffs. I just hope the Caps don't shit the bed like the do every year.

I almost want the caps to lose a few of these last games in dramatic fashion (Caps are currently tied with the islanders 3-3 late in the third) so that holtby doen't get to 50. The caps need to learn how to close games out in the playoffs, and if they learn their lesson early, it could suit them well in late April and beyond..
