Here is a pretty good article by John Scott about his hockey career, his daughters and how he made it into the NHL All-Star Game.
He did most of his university engineering degree. Go figure.
Interesting that he never got in a real hockey fight until he was 23. He, like a lot of enforcers dreamed of being real players, but their skill set wasn't good enough. When a NHL team calls and says we want you to knock people around, it's hard to say no. The last I heard, the league said despite the trade to Montreal and demotion to the minors he would still be the captain of the all-star team. Good for him, but they really shouldn't let fans vote on these things. It is kind of hilarious that he had 11 points in 8 seasons. It reminds me of one year in high school when they voted an unattractive and unpopular girl the prom queen. A cruel joke. John Scott IMO will be useless in the 3 on 3 format they're using and he probably will see little ice time.
San Jose just put Raffi Torres on waivers. He was suspended the first 41 games. They would love to dump the salary and pick up some cap space. Probably no one will take him, but who knows? I'd say he is the dirtiest player in the post goon era.

Good, I kind of feel guilty with him on the team.

The all-star whatever skills contest was fun to watch. Other than that I haven't been paying much attention to hockey this year.

Alex Ovechkin is also being suspended a game.
hahaha, the "Crosby Rule". What a bitch.

Yep, John Scott, 11 points in 8 years. I hear he's actually a good guy though. I have been an advocate for years that Phoenix shouldn't have an NHL team, and I hate to say it but they have been pretty good this year. Their fans are morons, and I'm hoping for a complete collapse or a first round playoff elimination.

Larkin winning the fastest skater was a complete joke. The goals were moved completely above the crease, shortening the track from when Gartner ran it and the goals were in the crease. Larkin also starts from the freaking blue line and gets a huge head of steam before he even trips the timer. Thats an incredible advantage over the previous record holders because they started just behind the centerline. There is some chicanery going on here and I don't like it. Larkin was the only guy to run it because if they would have had other guys run it there would have been 3 or 4 who "beat" the record. If you change the rules and track, you didn't beat the record.

Skills comp & Allstar game is always a joke. The players get drunk and meet with owners and commissioners and shit. Its just a special event for corporate big wigs and administrators in the league to get a chance for their kids to meet their favourite players and shit.
It doesn't mean shit, and it isn't really that great to watch.
PK's Jagr impressionation was alright, and it was kinda great seeing Schnider and Luongo in the same arena. Vancouver fans be like

Jagr has more game winning, overtime goals, in the playoffs than Scott has in his career.

Yeah but he can cave your head in with one punch. Many years ago my cousin thought the Rangers should teach Gerry Clooney to skate just to destroy Dave Schultz.

Scott scored early, and he is putting some good checking into the game.
I like Pacific's chances with Gaudreau and Scott.
PK put on a pretty good performance.
The D men are putting up some good goals in this format. It seems to have been well received with light contact and lots of show. It pretty much took out all the worst parts of the All Star format.

It's a great story. Good for him. Glad he got the money; he has a growing family (the fight with Kane was fake, but all-star games are about entertainment). Now the question is does Marc Bergevin bring him up from the minors. Not like Montreal doesn't have a lot of holes to fill.

They weren't hitting (save for Scott on Kane), but they were trying hard, stick checking and fighting for rebounds/lose pucks. A few players went pretty hard into the boards a few times; I'm sure owners were cringing. The goalies were also trying and when Gibson hit the full splits, I was cringing. They were wearing smiles but no one was really goofing off. Some of the guys (Taylor Hall, Corey Perry) didn't appear to be having any fun whatsoever. The guys were representing their divisions and $1 million was on the line, needless to say; they competed.
I like how they got rid of icing for the 3 on 3 play because it is counter to strategy. Possession is key in 3 on 3 so if you got the puck you wouldn't be rushing to turn it back over. I think they should have gotten rid of the pie slices behind the goal line as well, as dump ins would be counter to strategy, and the point of the pie slice is to keep the goalies from intercepting dump ins.
How awesome would a tournament like that be if guys were paid by their owners to compete in it?

Dude that's so crazy. Last night I was on the website in the comments section of the 'Dylan Larkin sets Skating Record' article saying how it was unfair that he got such a head start and we should stop pretending that he beat the record, and I started getting trolled by NHL reps or something. There was one poster that was posting on every single comment about the head start, saying all types of B.S. like 'Who are you to discredit a 19 year olds achievements' and 'How sad that people want to put a kid down, shame one you', etc. Her name was Tessa something or other, her facebook profile pic was a Red Wings logo and she had no profile information that would lead you to believe she was a real person.
So I started posting on all the posts telling them that she was a professional troll and that this whole situation really calls into question the integrity of the NHL. I explained that I didn't appreciate the NHLs efforts to deceive people to promote its Skills competition, while implicating a promising young talent in Dylan Larkin, who is worth the price of admission as it is. I called her out for tugging on heart strings, and reiterated that nobody is hating on Larkin. We are simply calling in to question the validity of his "record breaking performance".
Well within a minute all 15 or so of her posts were deleted completely. Everything I responded to was gone, leaving only the response. She vanished from the comment section as soon as I called her out for being a professional troll. I made a final post at the top reiterating the fact that he had a distinct handicap and saying that's like Tiger Woods setting a course record shooting from the ladies tees. I also mentioned how dubious the one participant event was to begin with. It got a lot of likes and the trolls were losing the battle, especially after they deleted all their comments. Well I log in just now to see what comments had been left, and they have changed the whole website, taken the news articles off the front page, and deleted all the comments from the Larkin sets record article...lol
How much you want to bet they stop going on about Larkin "breaking the record" and move along as quickly as possible?

We're post All-Star break, and now is when hockey starts to get really good. This last little home-stretch will blast us into the playoffs, and things are wide open in both conferences. It should be fun to watch how things pan out.
McDavid is back tonight! Toews(ill) and Ovechkin(upper boddy) will serve their one game suspensions tonight for missing the all-star game. Thanks a lot Crosby. Ovechkin's absence wont be quite as traumatic, as defensemen John Carlson is finally returning to the line up for Washington.
I'll just go ahead and make my final standings predictions, and I'll see how I did at the end of the season (in order):
Atlantic Tampa Florida Detroit
Metropolitan (This one is so tough) Washington Pittsburg Islanders
Eastern Wild Card Rangers Boston
Central Chicago Dallas St. Louis
Pacific (all Cali teams) L.A. San Jose Anaheim
Western Conference Wild Cards Minnesota Nashville

No Canadian teams
I would love to see John Scott and the Habs get Carry Price back early March, win 19 games in a row, get the wild card seed and go on to win the Cup.

Yea John Scott marketed himself well. If they give him a jersey there will be attention.
