Good one! There were a lot of stars in the NL during his time. Pretty sure any game would be quite a treat.

I got to watch a few years of Willie Mays still in his prime. He was an amazing outfielder besides the hitting. He got 12 consecutive gold gloves and made 24 All-Star teams. The NL All Star outfield was Aaron, Mays and Clemente. The NL won most of the games back then. Willie Mays was the only one who went by the same name through his career. Back then it was Hank Aaron and Bob Clemente.

I saw Willie Mays play around 1969. My brother got his autograph at the game. We used to go to the Cincinnati Reds games a lot.

Wow, just wow.
Even though I never got to watch Willie play, I have no qualms with calling him the GOAT. Amazing talent, class and humility. They just don't make 'em like they use to.

John Elway was fucking tight. Mccaffery and Terrell Davis. Now that was a fucking football team. This years Broncos team is pretty fucking grimey too though, they just grind shit out.
Nadia Comenci? Brah.. low key though, womens gymanistics gets intense a fuck.
Walter Peyton forsure. What about Butkis, and the Steel Curtain. That was back when football was just about toughness and grit.
I really wish i was around for Stockton and Malone when they were at their best. I got Stockon/Malone at the “wily vet” period, not when they were the GOAT combo.
Eh Baseball kinda sucks. Ill Take Pele>Babe Ruth any day and even Soccer>Baseball

Ali fights would be insane. Supposably he fought in the Bronx at Yankee Stadium during a Police Strike back in when NYC was DIRTY, so shit was insane.
Howard Cossell got his chain snatched during the broadcast...
I would say the Superbowl with Larry Czonka and the undefeated 'Phins

Steve Young and Elway were kind of similar because they could both run for big gains, which happened a lot because the coverage was all spread out to defend the pass and those two could elude lineman.
To me the difference between them was that Elway had learn to be an NFL QB under national attention. He was famous coming out of college and famous for his his refusal to play for the Baltimore Colts. I thought it was a dick move, but he had a big contract offer from the Yankees as well, so he had leverage to pick his own team. He wasn't very good his first two years, while adapting to the pro game. Then he got good, but developed the reputation as the guy who couldn't win the big game. Then he got the reputation as the guy who could nearly always stage a comeback in the 4th quarter so everyone had to respect him whether they liked him or not. He wasn't particularly good in his first four Super Bowls, but I don't think his team played well either until the 4th SB when Terrel Davis took over the game. The following year Elway was the SB MVP in the final game of his career. I can't think of anyone who ever finished their career that dramatically.
Steve Young had a very different career path. He started out at Tampa and was almost never on national TV. I assume he didn't play to well, but showed ability. Then he had the luck to be traded to SF in the middle of the dynasty. He sat on the bench and learned from Montana and Walsh for several years. When his turn came up he was a ready made superstar on a ready made dynasty, and he didn't disappoint.

Elway was a one man team.
Once they gave him a team he won back to back. I dont know about that..... Oh and the teams he played in the SB were legitimate dynasties. Skins and Niners of the 80s were fantastic teams.
I agree with the Niners talk. He had it easy, but he was still fun to watch.

I played everything. I was pretty good at most of them (not hockey so much but I wasn't terrible) Then it goes away. If you are any kind of athlete you are going to miss it when it's gone. And it will go.
