If you could go back to watch any athlete in their prime, who would it be?

I'm tempted to pick Babe Ruth so I could get some other bonus Yankees of that era. (Gehrig, etc) Pretty sure Murderers Row was around 1927-28 I'd probably want to time it so they're playing the Tigers so I could see Ty Cobb play. That sounds like it'd be a fun event to go back to and watch for yourself.
Don't think their careers had much overlap, though. Anyways, who would you pick?

I would build a time machine, travel to the future, and then come back to watch Aaron Rodgers.

Bobby Orr. I watched him play in his prime but I was too young to really appreciate what I was seeing.
Realistically Michael Jordan was the most amazing athlete in team sports in any era. Most of us saw him.

Jordan was fun to watch and I don't even like basketball. Gretzky is another favorite.

Yeah, I'm glad I got to see Jordan.. We had the NBA league pass thing on satellite when they got their 72 wins or whatever it was. I missed less than a dozen games that year.
Even though I've never tried ice skating, from what I've read, Gretzky is the most dominant player of his sport, no?

Gretsky was incredible but he didn't really body check or get checked. Part of this was his skill and part was the unwritten rule that you don't hit Gretsky because he has doubled all our salaries and doubled all our owners profits.
So it was very strange that the greatest of all time was playing in this vicious contact sport, but it wasn't much of a contact sport for him.

I should start watching hockey. I know it's a fun sport to watch, just have never gotten in to it.

Your post literally just made no sense.
You say "what a surprise" as if that's a common reaction or something
