Given the massive amount of users here who can't tell the difference between the words "then" and "than" I would be reluctant to believe this berenstein/berenstain bear theory as evidence of a parallel universe or timeline change.

So many people remember stein, we can't just chalk it up to misremembering, especially being "stain", that would be memorable in it's own right.
