gymnopilus luteofolius?
    #22253478 - 09/17/15 09:25 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Caps are purple-red, convex, about 2.5- 3.0cm. gills are adonate, yellow with some red in them. stipe is about 1.0cm in width, 4.5cm long. red fading to cream at the top. Waiting on spore print.

Found these on the northern Olympic Peninsula growing in moss on rotting wood/ dirt. Would like some I.D. help. Thanks.

Should have let it grow. And yeah those are horrible pictures. Is the cap smooth or rough?

If you aren't afraid to, take a bite, chew it up until you get a flavor and spit it out.

If its VERY bitter, youll know if its bitter, itll be bitter, its a Gymnopilus. More than likely. Do NOT consume this mushroom even if it is bitter. Or any mushroom. Get better picturses ad a spore print.

No, i dont think it is. I have never seen a gym with a white inner stipe. Its ususlly yellow or brownish red. Do not try chewing this thing, and throw em in the garden yo. Dont pick pinners too.

Gills don't look very yellow to my eyes.

The stipes dont go creamy, and maynard is correct. They would be like, highlighter yellow. Very very yellow.
