so here are the tubs that were dialed in. top holes were loose. same setup. you can even see where i had to remove one of the polyfil tops in one pic.

these had medium poly in all holes. airflow was the same in all tubs in the setup. after the flush is over. the tubs are either dunked. or misted heavily. then taken out of the closet setup and placed into the ceiling fan setup. but the poly is then loosened in the tops on the 2nd flushes.

ok the attempted lower water content recipe posed some problems when i did the tiger drop. most of the cornmeal itself was stuck to the inside of the glad mini round. ill stick with the original recipe.

I'm thinking about trying a cornmeal plate that has about 2inch diameter colonized. The progress has been piss slow, but the mycellium is super dense (noc 10/31.) I take it I should go ahead and put all the cornmeal in to jumpstart the mycellium wherever it lands.
Just noc'd up 10 pasty pods with grass seed oyster slurry. Man, grass seed sure grows a shitton of mycellium. Noc'd up a cup of GW-LC with it too, out of curiousity. Probably not clean enough. I just wanted to see what insane inoculation would do to an LC.
--------------------
I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube."

the mycelia loves it so far. its been growing at a fast rate for me in less than a week to colonize the full plate. despite the cornmeal being stuck, i still was able to inoculate 25 quarts with one blend. they showed recovery in 24 hours!]
yeah grass seed is tiny. definitely a quick expansion grain.

Do you know if the cornmeal is fine enough to get sucked into a 14g needle? I meant to try it yesterday but I forgot to PC the syringe.

Quick question is that brf play dough?
What have you knocked this stuff up with? (wondering how MS would do)
Pretty cool.

hi, kind of. its brf and water. but cooked for about 2 minutes until it is the consistency of grits. brf paste was then placed into each mini round and hit downwards against a hard surface so that the paste settles in the bottom of each plate.
i also swabbed 3 plates today with spores. lets see how she pans out. the intention was to use these plates specifically for 3rd tranfers to later be used for liquid inoculation. i want to see if the brf plate will have the same performance on grain as the cornmeal. i think it will.
it did require cooking. the first attempt i mixed the brf with water. but i believe i used too much water. 1/2 cup to 4 tablespoons brf was too much. at least when you cook it, you can judge the water content by thickness. i may attempt a lower water content on the next batch to see if i can skip the cooking step. it only takes about 2 minutes though. so its not that hard.
i am currently in testing phase with the brf plates for liquid inoculation. i will update as it progresses.

Thats so awesome, thank you!
Yeah I have some spore syringes laying around I want to get going and this looks like a very forgiving medium. It may not puddle like agar once solidified as easily, because you can mold it ahead of time.

well id suggest using regular agar for about 2 transfers before you go to this higher nutrient mix right now. i don't know how well it will take to adding more liquid to the plate. agar has a different texture. higher nutrient media have more susceptibility to contamination with the addition of water.
so do some pasty plates, drop a drop of your syringe onto one plate. get some good growth. then transfer to another pasty plate. if the culture looks clean, then go for the 3rd transfer onto the brf plates. let me make the mistakes first prior to wasting your time. i don't know how it will turn out. but im hopeful it will work as well as the cornmeal.
i think the water on the agar plate will sit at the top. and im wary of the water mixing in with the brf plate. im really not sure though until i try it.

just to demonstrate that these cornmeal agar plates used for liquid inoculation are clean. this is grain prepped from CMLI grain jars. i saved a few quarts for g2g and this is the 2nd and 3rd transfers of grows ive used with no contamination. ive also been fruiting most of these tubs 2-3 flushes unless i need to fill a new tub with fresh substrate and spawn.

These jars are 6 days old. They are of the envyss variety. Noc'd them up with a 1/3 of a pasty plate of cornmeal mush.

6 day recovery for me on my cornmeal LI. All my cultures hate me though, so IDK. Been like 58F here most of the time. Looks like a good inoculation spread! Thank ya baby jesus.

yeah temps may vary results for sure. i have a constant warm temp of 76-78 degrees. im still having similar 5 day results for full colonization. im definitely trying the brown rice flour liquid inoculation once those plates are done. the aa is almost there.
so you know how i roll.
spores swabbed to brf plates
Tex Orange Cap

Tex Yellow Cap

culture clones transfered
AA+

Burma

2013 TLY

Multispore transfer from plate

Interested in hearing if going right from LC to Cornmeal Plates works.. Would be nice to skip the agar step. Cornmeal is 100x cheaper then agar.
Maybe adding the cornmeal to the tribal jar with a lesser amount of water -> PC -> add LC then blend. Once colonized add X amount of water, blend and knock up X jars
