Those are from sgfcs!! ????? (Note the holes every 2 inches) If anything you're just proving everyone else's point that they're superior to your super charged thing by having better flushes/yields.

same concept... but i have always used a fogger and a light source and positive pressure... If i do not maintain that positive pressure i just dont get fruit... not sure why that isn't undrstood? it just doesn't work for me.

No its not anywhere near the same concept.
Quote:
How it's made
A properly made SGFC Is made of a clear/transparent tote with 1/4" holes on all 6 sides about 2" apart in a grid pattern. All 6 sides means the 4 vertical sides AND top AND bottom.
They need 4"-5" of damp perlite. You may need to rinse the perlite a few times to get rid of the dust. The dust can accumulate at the bottom, clogging the holes. A few pieces of perlite may fall through the hole, but only a few.
Principle of operation
A properly made SGFC uses natural air currents to create high relative humidity (RH) and constant fresh air exchange (FAE).
The fresh air flows in through the bottom holes and rises up through the damp perlite assisting in evaporation. This evaporation is where you get your humidity.
Because humid air rises, it flows up and out the other holes, thus allowing more fresh air in through the bottom. This is how you get constant FAE without sacrificing humidity.
Yours doesn't use air currents and pressures, as well as air pushed through humid rocks (the only use of perlite in this hobby). And it doesn't have anywhere near enough holes to provide proper fae.

OP, why don't you tell us how exactly you made your SGFC that didn't work? I'm sure we will figure the reasons behind it and help you construct a proper one without all that pointless shit.
You see, I'm a kinda newbie myself and did struggle quite a bit, but once you get the hang of it, there really aren't many things easier than growing boomers...

I'm gonna reinforce what alot of others have said...try monos. Plain and simple..they take care of themselves with very minimal cost. Grain>bulk...cover...come back and pick. Very easy to try to reinvent the wheel only to find things can be much easier and simpler.
On a side note I do have an oxygen machine which is made for medical use. I have had thoughts of hooking it up into a large greenhouse with slits cut to allow the fresh oxygen to push out the CO2 build up. Haven't got that big yet...lol.
Never stop thinking but don't waste time and $ only to get more frustrated.

I see there has to be something wrong with what i am doing. I guess I have over designed what should be a lot simpler. What i cannot figure out is why i get dry looking cakes or trays everytime i use th SGFC. Drilled holes, over , under, around, 3" to 4" perlite nice and damp, but my colonization starts drying out and dying. It is frustrating. It is inside my house. It is monitored constantly. But they still dry out. could it be that my house is kept at a constant 68 degrees? Something is not right and this just process happens to make me get fruit. Any advice is appreciated and i am glad that most people think im doing too much. Thank you all for your input. Seriously!

Because it is getting tons of FAE, which is a good thing....it means tons of evaporation is happening, and the chamber is functioning as intended.
You want constant evaporation happening at substrate level, this is why we mist and then fan out the chamber, for a drop in humidity, to make room in the air for evaporation of the water you just misted to take place, several times per day.
Evaporation off the substrate is a main pinning trigger. It also aids in humidifying the chamber.

Mad Season said: OP, fae with PROPER misting (to give 95-99% hydration on the surface, as said before) will give you flushes like you've never seen.
You should always aim for too much fae and need to compensate with misting over not enough fae/too much humidity.
Keep the surface glistening/damp with no pooling water. Mist when it isn't glistening anymore. Sometimes you might only need to mist twice a day. Sometimes 4 times a day. All you need is the eyes to tell it's in need of a misting . Nothing too fancy here

Don't get frustrated dude...I hated SG setups. Go bulk and you'll be a happier camper. Not everyone's environment is the same and most of ours changes day to day depending on weather conditions. No one's house/apt is immune to fluctuations in temp and humidity. That's why I'm all about the grains and bulk now...set it up and let her roll!

My first post, but I have 229 BRF cakes under my belt, grown in three different tub styles all within the last 10 weeks. As a "noob" to cubes I'm trying several styles. I noticed my SG tub did not have any condensation on the walls as the other two styles had. I knew the concept of the pressure diff. was good science, but it was not working for me. So I smoked a bowl and pondered over it. AND ... I was packing the perlite down as I did in the other two tubs that were working well but using diff. methods for humidity. So I added more perlite 6" total and made sure it was FLUFFY and flat ....NOT PACKED DOWN and flat. So far this has worked to fix my SG tub. It now has condensation on the walls, and is what I would expect it to look like. Not as much as the other two, but I'm thinking that will be a good thing in the end. I will leave that to be judged later after say 2000 cakes or so.

2000 cakes? Just go to bulk. Save time and hassle.

You want moist, fluffy perlite not packed down 3 to 5 inches. The cakes put off heat which rises, drawing cool humid air through the perlite from the holes in the bottom. Too much or packed down restricts airflow. Also condensation is not caused by humidity, it is caused by a temp difference between the fruiting chamber and the surrounding air, you could have 99% humidity and no condensation. But like stated before, the only place humidity matters is on the surface of the cake.
