I need help IDing som new plants I received yesterday as well as seeds
    #22251963 - 09/17/15 04:15 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

First off I went to an awesome market yesterday that I took pics of and plan to post them later when I have some free time.

These are some seeds I bought at the market but I don't really know what they are for sure. I'm guessing Ginseng or Mandrake. What do you guys think? You can see the flowers of the plant behind the picture of the root. It says in English to grow them for 2 - 3 years before harvesting.

I bought this plant at the same market but it was unlabeled and I honestly have no clue what it is.

I bought this at Home Depot because it came with an awesome pot "2 for 1:wink:" I think I know what it is but I cannot remember the name for the life of me. Any help would be greatly appreciated:grin:

1.     2.
I also stopped by my cousins yesterday on the way back home and he had some new plants he bought at a nursery "unlabeled". I know 1 is some kind of Cholla and the other is the variety that produces those beautiful flowers but for the name I have no clue. I figured you guys would be able to just pin point what they are in a snap:grin:

Here is a pic of my aunts Aloe vera plant "with my blue lighter as a size reference" that she wanted me to transplant and the second pic is all the pups I took from it. Thought you guys would like this:smirk:

Here's my dragon fruit I bought at the market yesterday. I haven't eaten it yet but I plan to soon and save all the seeds for grafting stock next year :uptosomething: the second pic is a nopal I bought and plan to plant if I can. It was so soft so I hope it wasn't prepared in come way.

I just wanted to add these to show you guys how my other babies have been doing lately:grin: Oh how sweet they play:smirk:

I forgot to ask but is there any benefits to the Harrisia jusbertii or other sp.?

Possibly fruit, grafting stock etc.?

Nice haul man,and I'm fairly certain that's not ginseng by the way.

You may be right...
Well the flower doesn't match but with Chinese vendors you never really know what seeds your getting. The root looks like ginseng in comparison to mandrake however dry roots are hard to id.

A popular grafting stock overseas.

Justiberti, is somehow preferred to trichs and myrtile by some producers.
The succulents may be some stapelia variegata .

Aloes FTW!

Don't count my "ID attempt" as fact, but I thought the pic resembled mandrake...

So it seems the rabbit and cats are getting along nicely. The cats don't mind the bunny being around at all?

One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree.
'Which road do I take?' she asked.
'Where do you want to go?' was his response.
'I don't know', Alice answered.
'Then', said the cat, 'it doesn't matter.'

I'm guessing it probably is mandrake but I was really hoping for ginseng. Either way they'll be in planted sometime this winter in preparation for spring. I'll know then for sure what it is.

This is quite a catch. It's an Eriocereus/Harrisia jusbertii and it's regarded as one of the best grafting stocks available. Apparently, it's a hybrid of a Harrisia species with a Trichocereus. I think I see some mealybugs on the damaged growing tip, so beware.
(if you look at the pics I posted of my ELK acquisitions, you'll see a couple of plants grafted to E. jusbertii).

You have it backwards.
#1 is a Huernia species (or some close genus) and #2 is an Opuntia (Austrocylindropuntia?).

I am with Lsoars on this one.

It is a type of Huernia or Stapelia. I have some Orbea(Stapelia) that look almost identical. You will know for sure when it blooms. Some of these are also known as (carrion flowers), because the smell bad, and are pollenated by flies.. but.. they do have pretty flowers.
