My parrot just took a bite out of a salvia leaf...
    #22251856 - 09/17/15 03:48 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Guys, holy shit. I let my parrot out to play and she bit a chunk out of my salvia plant I keep in my room.. I think she ate some of it, but do you guys think she'll be okay?

She's acting a bit strange to be honest. A bit nicer and she's acting super excited. She might just be happy, but I'm still worried :/

I think some of the leaf got stuck in her beak... I'm trying to get it out, but she doesn't like me touching it...

yeah  hope so.. It freaked me out though. She is acting much nicer than usual tbh. Like usually in my room she just wants to bite the shit outta me, but right now she's making kissy noises and just climbing around me.

She's only super aggressive in my room, when I take her other places in my house she becomes sweet. But she was nice for like 5 minutes, she stumbled around about a minute after eating the leaf.

She probably be all cool.

You know what else would be cool, if you posted some pics of her.
Whats the point in owning a beautiful bird if you dont show it off?

Quakers are known to be aggressive and territorial. If I take her outside of my room, she is sweet and never bites me. But inside my room, she'll chase my bare feet or my hand around

You need to punch that fucking bird and let it know who runs this bitch..

Seriously though, some solid eyecontact and a "squak" ... let the little dude know where his food comes from.. birds are as neurotic as they are smart.  He'll figure it out..

birds are really sensitive to certain things, you really shouldn't be letting it take drugs.  its not a oh he's sick better stop and he'll get better, its a drop dead u fucked up situation.

Birds do love to eat plants, so maybe try getting one that might not kill it, broccoli is pretty easy to grow even indoors, it won't fruit very easy but you will get leafs, might need a small light for it.

as for the biting if the bird is on your hand u just drop your hand in elevation a few inches to throw him off balance everytime he tries to bite.

and altho birds do get territorial, most of the time they are pissed off because something is wrong and they are trying to let you know.  sometimes its just them molting and being moody.  But things like not changing their water everyday will piss them off, it really does need changed every single day.  there's other things to but take to long to list everything.  baths everyday as an option is another
