Pumpkin beers?
    #22250082 - 09/17/15 09:21 AM (8 years, 4 months ago)

I can't stand most of them that are out there but I'm brewing one at work and starting to get the taste for one. What's your favorite pumpkin beer or seasonal beer? Most breweries put them out in July which is retarded. I'm typically anti pumpkin beers bc they are girly as shit.  But yet here I am making one at work haha.

The best pumpkin beer is the one that doesn't have any pumpkin in it.

Haha this. But to be effective at my job I have to drink all kinds for "research". Just made a olde ale at work and prob one of my favorite styles now. But yea seasonal beers aren't typically my thing

I enjoy seasonal beers as long as they don't have goofy shit like pumpkin and fruit and stuff added to them. The only additives I approve of besides water, yeast, malt, and hops is chocolate or coffee in a stout.

Alaskan Brewing Company has made a great Pumpkin Ale this year.
https://alaskanbeer.com/our-beers/fall-2015-pumpkin-ale/

It is the only pumpkin brew I have ever enjoyed, and it is quite tasty.  Grab a six pack of it and try it out.

Blue moon probably makes the worst beers. Except maybe Shock Top.

Generic watered down versions of "craft" beers that are mass marketed to appeal to the American public who generally have terrible taste in beer.

I can't name any good pumpkin brews.

The ones I've had are just decent at best, ie. Harpoon Pumpkin UFO, Rivertown Pumpkin Ale.

Yeah these are way better. I don't care for the additives either.

I came out with my marzen homebrew towards the end of August and the taste is already not so good. Freshness is key.

It should come out mid-September traditionally. 'Twas a result of lack of refrigeration in the olden days so lagers could only be made in cooler months by utilizing caves towards the end of summer, this was the breaking of the beer drought when the first Marzen came out. Oktoberfest is celebrated from when the Marzen comes out in September until the first Sunday of October. So, usually about two weeks.

I think pumpkin flavor is next to impossible to get into beer.  It's not a very fragrant thing.  Most pumpkin beers just use pumpkin pie spice I hear to kinda give pumpkin flavor by association.  I don't really like that too much, but if it's subtle and balanced well I can dig it.

As a beer buyer I hate seasonal beer. As big John said brewer's put out seasonal beer earlier every year. I understand the reasoning but it's lame and irritating. Sam Adams started the trend. I am constantly buying cases of beer weeks before I put it out. Such is life.
When it comes to pumpkin beers I enjoy drinking: Schlaflay's pumpkin, Alewerks pumpkin, and Unita's crooked barrel aged pumpkin ale. Those are just a few.

Favorite pumpkin ale I've had so far. Very light pumpkin flavor, not too sweet. I don't like flavored beers but I wouldn't ever turn one of these down. Perfect fall beer, but because of the price I wouldn't buy it again.
