Agar transfer tools

Ok so this morning I attempted to transfer some colonized agar i have going in a 1/2 pint mason jar. My biggest problem right now seems to be getting it cut and transfered in a clean motion, what i mean is that i have to cut the wedge jab it three or four times with my scalpel and sometimes just have to literally scoop it up on the blade..
Problem #2 is i cannot get it to cleanly drop, i gotta shake it till it falls or try to just jab the wedge into the new dish because it was being exposed to long.. Which im pretty sure caused contams last time.
Can i use tweezers? Also after I flame sterilize my tools how should i cool them? I have been using a plate with iso soaked paper towels that i lay my scalpel on then wait till cool to make a cut..
Getting frustrated can someone elaborate

When using 1/2 pint jars and transferring from agar I use only my scalpel. I use the #11 blade, I usually will cut a wedge, and with the last cut i'll turn the jar on its side and wiggle the cut until the wedge is on my scalpel. When transferring I just lightly touch the wedge to my grains and it will usually stick, removing the wedge from blade, I try to cut larger wedges for this.
Do not soak your flame sterilized utensils in iso. That's completely defeating the purpose of flame sterilization. As RR would say, that's like rubbing shit all over yourself after taking a shower. Usually to cool my blade I will lightly run it through the un-colonized section of agar, it cools fairly quickly.

Read the improve your sterile techniques link in my signature. Especially Agar2Agar transfer section
Make sure to use a proper lab scalpel with a thin blade. I use a x-acto with the #11 blade too.
Also tbh i don't cool my tools in any sterile water/agar. It sizzles a bit as I cut, but it's never been a problem.

Like Mad Season said it really doesn't hurt to cut with a hot blade. The first cut will cool it. Youll be fine.

i like scooping it on the side of the blade, makes laying it on plate easier than when i poke/jab it.
thicker plates are easier to work with for me. if its poured too thin, its much harder to get the wedge out after u cut it, since there is no depth to the wedge for ur blade to scoop onto or poke into for a grip.
i also agree about not having to cool ur blade for success, but i find that a hot blade makes it much harder for the wedge to come off onto the receiving plate, or off the blade dropping it into a jar. the mycelium seems to stick to a hot blade more than a cool one.
but as long as ur transfers are clean, its all preference.

You can just practise with out any real cultures etc. Just boil up some agar and stick it in dish and play with it. No need to sterilize at all, just boil and pour into plates in open air and stick in the fridge to cool. Practise outside the SAB first and then go inside the SAB as you might find difficulties which can easily be overcome before the real run.
Nothing has to go to waste, after practising you can now sterilize that practise agar for real. Do not just make 1 plate, make as many as you plan to, as stacking and working with mulitple plates in a SAB can prove difficult. This lets you try numerous different stacking procedures and techniques before deciding what works best.
I have made my own transfer tools from stainless steel. I got copper tube which I partially squashed in a bench vice. I then put my flat stainless steel strips into the copper and compressed again so its a tight fit. I flattened copper tube "cap" goes on both ends of the stainless tools. I flame these copper tubes with a blowtorch and leave to cool. So I have no flaming to do at all. I bring the tool inside the SAB and take the copper cap off.
